A double dose of Tequila Sunrise this week. I couldn’t decide whether I liked it best as a black tea or a green tea, so I did both! Here’s our premium Pettaiagala Extra Long Leaf OP from Sri Lanka blended with freeze-dried oranges and cherries; and organic tequila-, orange- and cherry flavors.

Sip Down!

Brewed what was left of this ancient tea; about two teaspoons. Did two steepings and combined in a glass with ice that had 10 grams of sugar, a dash a bing cherry juice and candied Bing cherry; not the syrupy type though. Drank it on my way to work the next day. It tasted better than I thought. Not sure if the cherry juice helped. It had a nice tangy light orange flavor and cherry flavor. The tea base tasted good as well. Brisk, but not too astringent with slight toasty malty notes. Overall a pleasurable drink.

Thank you again to Starfevre for sending me some of her old teas. I made up half of the pitcher pack today because it’s finally getting warmer outside and it is quite sunny. The weather is just too perfect to not make iced tea.

I brewed half the 0.5 oz pitcher pack (~7g) in 1L of cold water for ~5 minutes. I served it over ice with some agave sweetener.

Unfortunately this has lost its flavour, however there are traces of something vaguely fruity. (I’m not going to rate this one because I think the age of the tea prevents me from properly reviewing this)

Oddly enough, the base tastes very green to me and not like a black tea. Regardless, I still enjoy having a slightly sweetened fruity iced tea on a beautiful day.

EDIT: This was a Southern Boy Iced Tea brand one and was made with a green base. So I mistakenly posted this in the incorrect place.

Nice and fruity…an enjoyable cup. I added sweetener, as I mostly do, and I think this is very refreshing.
