From 52teas

This week’s tea is a sweet blend of hay-like shou mei, freeze-dried strawberries and fresh cut peppermint and spearmint along with organic strawberry, mint and bourbon flavors. It reminds me oddly of my grandmother’s house, where she kept a small garden of mint and strawberries on the side of the house.

Hope you enjoy this sweet summertime treat as much as I do.

Yeah so I haven’t been drinking tea AT ALL, I just don’t care to even look at cups when I’m not at work even on days off. I just drink water. And beer.

Then, well, things are kind of changing at work. We were all presented with PerfecTea makers the other night. As of today, there are 12 Starbucks with Teavana PYRAMID SACHETS. No more Tazo. I haven’t gotten to see them yet so I’m kind of excited to go to work tomorrow. It’s kind of funny to get the tea maker, it’s honestly just sort of what I needed to get me drinking tea again because it’s such a piece of cake if I want iced tea. I gave my knock-off version to my mom awhile ago but I always use it when I visit. I’m so glad to have one again.

So I don’t think I’ve ever had an actual mint julep but I am familiar with bourbon. I do also get that kind of champagne-like flavor in here. I don’t mind it, I quite like champagne. I can taste every aspect of this tea, strawberry, spearmint, finished with bourbon.

Definitely very cocktail-like, and it makes me sad I didn’t try it sooner because it is an awesome iced tea. And after so many consecutive nights of drinking last week it’s quite nice to get the flavors of alcohol without drinking any. It’s so refreshing and the flavors are so good. I just guess maybe I wish it wasn’t white tea, but perhaps that really has more to do with the fact I want more than what I have.

That is very cool that you got a tea maker from work!

Are they changing all of the Tazo flavours? I stocked up on Awake when I heard that Starbucks bought Teavana because I was worried they would get rid of it. It is my go to tea when I can’t wake up.

I don’t know yet, all the other stores still have Tazo for the time being and I have no idea when they’ll change it for anywhere else. I heard holiday but idk if that’s just the US.

Steep notes, 1.5 tsp leaf, 3 minutes, 180 degree water, about 10 oz. No additives.

This is a backlog from a day or so ago. I’ve had it for a while and not even tried it yet, which is kind of embarrassing because I’ve been whining about how I have no new teas to try (in my head, at least) and DER. One right here.

I’m not normally a white tea person, is the problem. If I buy one of Frank’s white teas it is because of the flavorings involved, as in this case. Mint julep? With strawberry? Fabulous. Let’s do this.

Of course drinking it the first thing I think is how wonderful it would have been to have cold. In summer. That’s my own fault, since I HAD it in summer and did not take advantage. :(

This really wasn’t bad hot though. While the dry leaf had an artificial berry note I didn’t find too exciting, steeped it turned into a very natural strawberry scent and taste. I didn’t get much mint except for that cooling after taste on the swallow, and the white tea did what it normally does and retired meekly to the background. I don’t drink alot of liquor so I didn’t really notice the bourbon flavor, but that’s okay.

Overall it was a clean light tea that I’m curious to try cold. It will have to wait a few days though, because I’m starting 3 12 hour shifts at work tonight and not much will be on my radar except for work and sleep ’til the end of the weekend. :/

First time trying this one today. It was probably more of a summer tea, but it’s always nice to be reminded of warmer days when it’s cold outside. The first thing that struck me about this one was the scent — it’s mouthwatering! Similarly with the taste. The strawberry is clear and strong, and reminds me a little of those red bootlace sweets you can sometimes get in pick n’ mix. It’s not exactly a natural flavour, but a candy strawberry flavour is good enough for me. I’m not getting much mint, even though there’s apparently both spearmint and peppermint in here. Maybe just a hint in the aftertaste. The white base is pretty perfect — it’s a little heavy as white teas go, but fresh and clean tasting, and somehow almost chewable. I’d like to taste a little more of the mint, so maybe I can work on that, but itherwise I think I’m going to really enjoy this one.

This is the best 52 teas blend I’ve had so far. The strawberry is nice. I like the combo of peppermint and spearmint. And however he gets the bourbon flavor is pretty yummy.

Backlog:

NICE! I really enjoyed this tea. The delicate qualities of the white tea work well with the strawberry, mint and bourbon flavors. There is a really pleasing balance: the mint is the strongest flavor but it doesn’t overpower, and the strawberry is both sweet and tart.

I prefer this iced to hot, but it was tasty hot too.

I’ve been drinking this a lot lately. It actually has quite a rootbeery/chicory kick to it; I get some of the same notes from this that I do the 52Teas’ Butterbeer tea. It definitely has just a bit of a tart berry backdrop, but for me that’s not the dominant note. And in my cups of this stuff I haven’t tasted much mint either.

I live in the American south, and I love me a minty cocktail… I’m just not sure this tastes like one. That said, I am enjoying it. It reminds me a bit of a champagney themed tea 52Teas made a while back, in addition to the rootbeery thing it’s got going on.

Not a re-order one for me, but it’s a decent tea.

Perfect iced tea. The strawberry and mint are strong and clear-tasting, and with a bit of sugar dissolved in lime juice, I drank it by the gallons.
