I saved my very last Southern Boy Tea especially for this weekend. Today is Librari-Con in our fair city, and my youngest has been excitedly awaiting her first ever cosplay – Elizabeth from Bioshock Infinite, the younger one. I will try posting this link and I hope it works but Flickr has changed an awful lot since I last used it.

It feels wretchedly hot outside today. This tea is one of my favorite flavored iced tea blends. And it is the perfect geeky drink for this weekend! My son was there in his sand trooper armor, my godson changed clothes and appeared as three characters in all: an Imperial Gunner from Star Wars, the Cobra Commander, and the ninth doctor. Hooray for cosplay!

Too bad the link doesn’t work but the costume sound awesome! I always wanted to dress up like a Stormtrooper, so your son picked a good one haha.

I think the link should work now! There are four photos.

TeaKlutz

I’m not familiar with the character, but that looks to be a well-done cosplay and she is so pretty!

Ysaurella

she’s absolutely graceful in her costume !

JacquelineM

She looks amazing!

My husband just downloaded this game for the three day weekend now that it’s available for Mac! The graphics ARE something else!

Tealizzy

She looks great! :)

Rosehips

Fabulous costume. Elizabeth from Bioshock is a great character. Hope everyone had fun!

ashmanra

Thank you, everyone! She was very happy with it! A former student of mine made the outfit. The skirt is linen and the blouse is Kona Cotton. She even wore the thimble on her pinky the whole time. :)

This one makes a delicious Earl Grey iced tea. There is strong bergamot, which of course I love. It is a bit artificial tasting but still good. I made this as per the directions on the package, steeping for 3 minutes. To me, this one is on the verge of being a creamy Earl Grey with just a slightest hint of vanilla. There is also some sweetness to this tea so I didn’t need to add any sweetener.

Backlog:

Of all the iced tea varieties that I’ve tried thus far from SBT/52Teas … this one is probably my least favorite which pains me to say because you know how I love my earl grey.

But, while I was able to drink this tea (and I even resteeped the tea pouch after cold-brewing it for the first half-gallon of tea), it wasn’t my favorite. It was alright, but it wasn’t anything to get excited over. I felt the same disappointment that Captain Jean-Luc Picard felt.

The second infusion (hot brewing after the cold-brew) was better than the first. But it still wasn’t great. I guess they can’t all be. Right? I didn’t hate it, but didn’t love it either.

I have so many notes to catch up on – I hope I can remember them all!

This is a backlog from a bit ago, and I have to say I was disappointed. I think my standard amount of sweetener made it too saccharine tasting – and it became having tea with my sugar rather than some sugar with my tea.

The smell of this strongly resembled cream soda for some reason. Since there was no carbonation though all I could think about was flat cream soda. That’s what this resembles most closely. Flat soda is just nasty to me, so that’s the reason for the lower rating.

I didn’t really get much bergamot sadly-shame because I was really wanting to try that iced. It seemed to get buried underneath the taste of sugar though.

Ah well, this won’t be a rebuy but that’s okay – they can’t all be.

I approached this one with a little trepidation, as earl grey isn’t always my favourite thing these days. Sometimes it’s just too floral and bergamot-y, and it gives me a headache. I should have known that I could trust Frank, though, because this one is perfect. I gave the bag the usual three minutes in boiling water, by which point it was looking quite dark. It certainly smells quite strongly when you first open the bag, but it translates into a quite delicate tea. I’m glad of this – I want my iced teas to be refreshing rather than in my face. At the same time, though, I like to be able to identify what I’m drinking. This one strikes the perfect balance. The black base is smooth and solid as ever, and the delicate citrusy flavour of bergamot seems to float on the surface. There’s a slight floral note to the aftertaste, and something of a candy-like creaminess as well – it’s certainly not harsh in the way that some EGs can be. I could happily drink this all day. In fact, that’s more or less exactly what I will be doing. It’s supposed to be hot here again, and I’ve got 300 shipping invoices to enter on DHL, so I’ve hardly an excuse to leave my desk. Good thing my tea is close at hand, then!

I really liked this. I thought I picked up a grape Kool-Aid or candy flavor. I don’t like harsh bergamot, so that was nice. I want more of this one!

Wow, this is really strong. It’s alright but I wouldn’t buy it again…
