From 52teas

So, yesterday was Steven Moffat’s birthday. For my customers who don’t know who he is, I feel for you. For those of you who don’t care, please forgive my self-indulgent nerd fest this week; this week’s tea will probably “not compute” if you are not a Dr. Who fan.

If you happen to be someone from the BBC’s legal department, please don’t sue me. As cool as it would be to be sued for my Dr. Who fandom, I really don’t have any money, and it would be a shame to “Exterminate” 52teas. We’re mostly harmless (to mix nerd references).

So, I’m sure you are wondering, what exactly is a Weeping Angel tea? Well, what else could it be, but a tea flavored like my favorite Dr. Who snack? It’s a buttered toffee caramel corn flavored black tea, and it’s heavenly–amazing enough to make a weeping angel smile.

But… Don’t Blink! This one will be gone before you know it.

I have a job interview later today; it’s my first one in 5 years and I’m super nervous. So I’m sitting at my desk at my current job trying to get a tea buzz going so I’ll be more talkative!

This reminds me of Pancake Breakfast in that the dry leaf looks the same and I’m getting a similar slightly fruity taste, but not much flavor beyond that. There is no way I would guess this is caramel popcorn. There is a very slight buttery note that I can pick up if I really concentrate on it. Overall it’s a slightly sweet, pleasant black tea but doesn’t have a distinguishable flavor beyond that. Thanks TastyBrew for letting me try it (I read your review and I totally agree!)

Swap sample I got from Cheetah_Pita! I am really enjoying this tea this afternoon. The buttery component is pleasing with the (probably too large) amount of sugar I added. I’m really glad I got to try it, thanks again for the swap!

Nice n mellow tea, similar to Butterbeer, without the fizzy? Am not seeing the Angels connection tbh :P but it’s very good!

I have to admit that I was skeptical of this tea at first for two reasons: the dry scent was somewhat floral to me and so far I have not had much luck with many of the teas released by this company. I am happy to report that this one is really good! It tastes like buttery caramel with a mellow black base. I will definitely enjoy the rest of this sample. Thank you CK!

With the recent return of Doctor Who I thought it was a perfect time to get around to rating this blend. While I can’t say I have ever tried or even heard of buttered toffee caramel corn (whatever it may be) but it makes for one tasty tea! The dried tea leaves have a smooth buttery, sweet scent that makes your mouth water. Once brewed the flavors further develop and the use of a black tea base adds a smart balance to ensure that the blend isn’t overly sweet or too buttery. I am not sure how Frank does it, but I was very pleased by the lack of any lingering aftertaste on the palate even though there was artificial flavoring used. As noted, I steeped this on the lower side as it’s a personal preference when it comes to black teas but works especially well in this case since all the flavors could really shine through.

Day 7- 12 Teas of XMAS

I already own this one, and I really like it. I wish there was a bit more toffee taste to this, but I like it.

Sipdown 207!!

Sil sent me this forever, & I’ve been saving this last bit to drink while I watch a Dr. Who episode. Actually, I had planned to rewatch the final Amy & Rory episode, since there are so many Weeping Angels in it, & drink it then. Never happened. Too Busy. I’m miserably behind, as I never got a chance to watch the last 3 episodes of the last season. I really need to watch them before the xmas special, etc.

So I drank this today, or I was going to drink it, but accidentally over steeped it by like 10 minutes (blame little terri & her easily sidetracked mind). So, I didn’t really drink it, because it was lukewarm & terrible. :p
But I still get to claim the sipdown! HA!

I was hesitant to taste this one because I’m not a huge caramel or toffee person. But I really enjoyed it. It was a good black tea to start off my morning. The caramel toffee was almost an after taste which I really enjoyed. Another successful sample tested:) almost finished with all my samples from my mystery swaps from June.

Strong alcohol flavor but not in an unpleasant way. Reminiscent of rum/bourbon and coke.
