Aroma of the tea has a fruity punchy-ness to it. I am reminded of the smell of baking dough. I can also detect a fresh-muffin scent in the background. Maple sweetness.

The tea is rather thin tasting. Watery on the sip and then blooms into maple sweetness with a hint of bakey muffin taste.

It is possible that this tea lost some of its flavour in transit.

I don’t like this one; got very little flavour from it even straight from the bag, but others seem to have tasted things in my batch that I didn’t.

This tisane is delightful! I love rooibos, even more than honeybush actually.
That characteristic rooibos flavor, often described as woodsy, is very pleasant to me.
Many flavors go well with rooibos, but most cover up that rooibos-y taste. While that may be preferable to those less enamored of rooibos, but not so for me. I want the flavoring to leave room for the rooibos.

That’s this tisane. The subtly sweet date flavor here compliments the rooibos so well, both prominent without masking the other. The walnuts are welcome added note.

Very good!

This one is growing on me a lot. I can enjoy my beloved cinnamon raisin toast tea at night now because this tastes a lot like it, but has no caffeine! I just love this date flavor, and the little nuts in the tea bag. A great evening tea, especially with a cookie.

I had high hopes for this one, because the fragrance wafting up from my mug is amazing – it smells like freshly baked muffins. And when I read teataku’s tasting note stating that this tisane reminded her of cucidati (Italian fig cookie) I got really excited because those are favorites of mine.

Unfortunately, this tisane just isn’t working for me. It’s the rooibos. The rooibos just isn’t working for me.

The other flavors ARE there … and this tisane does deliver what it says it will. I can taste the date and the nut and the muffin and even the touch of butter. But the rooibos just isn’t working for me with all these other flavors. Perhaps this would be better if it had an Assam base? I don’t know.

Hmm. I’m not currently sure what to think of this. The loose tea smells pretty good, a little fruitier and less muffin-y than I was expecting.

The liquor doesn’t taste so much like a date muffin as it does those Italian fig cookies you can get at specialty grocery stores (and your grandmother’s kitchen). They’re delicious, don’t get me wrong, and I suppose dates do sort of taste like figs, and vice versa. However, I like my muffins. I wish this had a little cinnamon, or some other sort of baking spice. I like the walnuts okay, but they didn’t do for the tea what I thought they would do.

It’s possible I didn’t steep it long enough. I normally steep rooibos for at least 5 minutes, usually longer, but this time I got impatient and only steeped it for 3-4 minutes. Perhaps giving the rooibos more time to steep would have filled the gap in the flavors that I experienced. Not a bad tea overall, but on this my first try, not a total success either.

Also received this one in a swap a loooooong time ago. I was craving a muffin this morning so I thought this could do the trick. I’ve been excited to try this rooibos but there just hasn’t been a good time to try it. So I’m doing it now! I added a touch of honey. The aroma of the tea is just delicious :) And the flavor is very muffin like. It even has that moist muffin-y feel. It’s sweet and even has a nice nutty flavor going on. It kind of mixes with the butter flavor. Oh. This is really a good rooibos. I’m kind of sad I don’t have more of it :(
