ICED Review (I reviewed it HOT Prior)

This still isn’t as intensely flavored as I was assuming it would be but it’s still nice. I do prefer it iced to hot…it seems to bring that sweet and juicy watermelon out more, naturally.

Very nice. I wouldn’t mind one with more watermelon but I also understand the toned down flavor as many people don’t like intensely flavored black teas at times, too.

This is nice!

I received my iced tea series today and this is the first tea that I had to try.

Very good! The black tea is strong with a juicy watermelon taste. It isn’t a strong, cloying flavor – this isn’t your average iced tea. I really like this a lot.

QuiltGuppy

My order arrived today, too, and I’m looking forward to making some this afternoon. I’m going to let the kids choose which one they’d like to try. My guess is either watermelon or root beer. :)

RachanaC (Rachel)-iHeartTeas

I am caving and buying the entire collection today. It does seems like I would very like this the most and the others in varying degree.

KeenTeaThyme

You guys are all tempting me! I’m going to have to cave in too… darn you Frank and your awesomeness! ;)

ashmanra

I must look into these teas! I have never ordered from them but it sounds like I need to do so ASAP!

Terrible. I ended up tossing it down the drain.
Hot, it was tolerable. Barely. But very fake tasting. Like one of those watermelon candies. Not at all like a real juicy melon. Then as it cooled, I got a serious bitter note. Kindof like when you accidentally bite into a watermelon seed.
Sugar didn’t help, and neither did a dash of milk.
What am I gonna do with the rest of this packet!?

Roswell Strange

Oh no D: And the name sounds so promising…

Indigobloom

Yup. I was kinda sad. My high hopes are dashed!

boychik

what if you resteep with diff parameters, maybe cooler temp., diff water ratio. Also i think agave syrup would help. i maybe wrong

Indigobloom

Actually I used water that was about 96c. Perhaps if I went straight for boiling it’d help. Worth a shot.

Southern Boy Teas

Was this one of the Southern Boy Teas or the old iced tea series? If the latter, it is about three years old.

Indigobloom

Ahh hmm. I’d have to check. But it was whatever I ordered a few months ago.

Southern Boy Teas

If you ordered it a few months ago from us, it had to be the Southern Boy Teas series. Did it come in a foil pouch with a teabag inside, or was it a kraft pouch with foil lining and loose tea inside? The first would be the new SBT; the second the old iced tea series.

Indigobloom

The first one. So an SBT.

My daughter picked this one out. She thought it would make a watermelon. :) (She’s three.) Okay, it’s good, but I don’t know if I made it right. I’m getting a vegetal/watermelon taste, which isn’t what I expected. The watermelon is great. It’s not sweet, just the flavor is present. My husband even likes it, but added Splenda to his.

I used the Breville and brewed it at 205/4 min with the basket cycle to agitate it. I just dumped the whole packet in and then added 40 oz. of water (which is as high as you can do a tea cycle with the Breville.) I figured the amount of water doesn’t matter all too much as it’s going to be iced anyway, which adds more water. I’m just not certain why I’m getting such a vegetal taste to the tea. Any ideas?

That is so weird and please tell your three old that she is too cute. :-)

QuiltGuppy

She saw the picture on the front, plus we just purchased our veggie plants for our garden, so I guess she thought one would instantly grow. She’s come up to the counter and peered into the teapot about four or five times now, hoping…

I don’t know if I like this one or not. The melon flavor is pretty natural tasting which is great, but there’s something that makes me not love this tea. Maybe it’s the aftertaste? I can’t put my finger on it…

So, it took me a while to get around to trying this and I’m not sure why. Last night I finally dumped maybe half of one of the packets into some cold water, and tried it this morning. Delicious! I was mostly worried that it would be too strong if I hot-brewed it, and I was worried that it would be too weak cold-brewed, but this is actually perfect. Really flavourful and refreshing. It made me buy the second iced tea series even though I am so beyond my tea “budget” these days.

Uniquity

the lemon lime cheesecake got me…

nomadinjeopardy

Somehow I missed that one! It got me too until I saw it was sold out.

Backlogged from the weekend. THIS one I brewed right. It tastes like watermelon without being overpowering.

Drank it outside in the bright bright sun with my family. Mom loves it too!

Thank you TeaEqualsBliss! I didn’t like this when I brewed it hot then iced it.. So I just went with cold brewing it and it’s awesome. Light and ever so slightly watermelony!

I’m a loner, Dottie. A rebel

Due to receiving two packets of this, I set one aside for iced tea and opened one up right away to try hot. Because I’m difficult that way. I also cooled it down to drinking temp with a frozen slice of watermelon. It was very good, the tea came out a bit bitter to me, but I’m picky about my black teas. I look forward to trying it again, though!

Another iced tea win!! I hot brewed this one, and I normally cold brew my fruity black teas for iced tea, but I am realizing that is only something I really have to do when the black base kind of blows. I love Adagio, it is very accessible and affordable and they have a great rewards program, but the black base for iced tea leaves a bit to be desired.

Not so here. The black tea flavor is delicious and present, but the watermelon flavor balances out well. It isn’t too strong which is good because it doesn’t taste too artificial. So far, two for two with this brand’s iced options.
