Tea of the Week for September 12, 2022!

This blend starts out with a beautiful Grand Keemun black tea. The beauty of the Grand Keemun is that it has a rich, flavorful taste with a remarkable smoothness. I thought it was the perfect base for a combination of caramel & maple essences (both are vegan, gluten-free & allergen-friendly) Then I added some vanilla bean for even more of a creaminess to the cup. As a final touch of sweetness, I added some maple cotton candy (which, after a couple of weeks of curing, reduces into little tiny bits of pure maple syrup crystals.)

A perfectly cozy cuppa for autumn! It’s organic, vegan, gluten-free, allergen-friendly & all natural!

Ashmanra’s Sipdown Challenge | April 2023 | National Caramel Day: Drink a tea with caramel notes or flavoring!

I was traveling for work during the first week of April, so I didn’t get to this themed sipdown till last week… and then Steepster was down… so I’m only logging it now!

Anyway, this is an easy winner for me, even if I don’t remember the details. :) I definitely get more maple than caramel, but I’ll never complain about that.

I likedthis one, too! Everything in the name appealed to me and it did not disappoint.

A sipdown!

I am drinking a huge pot of this tea this morning as clouds and cool breezes have moved in, the windchimes are singing, and all is still.

The Keemun is raspy like cocoa on the tongue, just as it should be, although this one is not particularly chocolate-y in flavor. The maple flavor was so good with breakfast which included waffles with maple syrup. This is one of the few times I pair like with like. I guess the contrast of the toasty, raspy Keemun makes it work.

I don’t think I would like the pairing if I sweetened this tea and added milk, as that would indeed be too little contrast, but as a stand alone cup that might be good for a desserty, satisfying treat for a sweet tooth attack.

For me, this is perfect just as it is when paired with food.

I could taste a little maple, but mostly this tea was sort of tangy for some reason. The black tea base was not to my liking. I tasted much more maple in the resteep and enjoyed that much more. My bag only made two (large) mugs, and I had a similar experience the second time. The resteep was quite rich and mapley and tasty, but the first steep was a little metallic and bland. Worth it for those second steeps!

September 2022 Blend

Here’s another amazing tea I finished off mid-October that I didn’t want to let go quietly into the good night (the empty packet still smells amazing and fills me with tea-envy). Probably shouldn’t have waited until “Adventaggedon” season to catch up with my sipdowns and 52teas’ subs, but here we are!

I enjoy Anne’s Pancake Breakfast Tea and Vanilla Black tea blend staples but, for me, this slightly tops them because it’s two in one! All that creamy vanilla, syrupy maple, and gooey caramel goodness in one cup – resonating perfectly with all the fall vibes (and it was still 100% fall when I annihilated my sample pouch; I hate how tiny samples are sometimes).

Flavors: Caramel, Caramelized Sugar, Creamy, Malt, Maple Syrup, Smooth, Vanilla
