This blend is inspired by my cranberry sauce recipe that I make for my family every Thanksgiving. I enjoy cranberries, but I find that eating a sauce that’s just cranberries tends to be just a little too tart for my liking. So, I add other fruit and some spices to create a compote of sorts. It’s cranberries, pears, apples & tangerines, plus some cinnamon, allspice & nutmeg.

And that’s what’s in this blend too! I start with a blend of rooibos (both green & red) & add pears, apples, tangerines & of course – cranberries! Then I add a touch of spice: cinnamon, allspice & nutmeg. This turned out so good, it tastes like I’m drinking my yummy cranberry sauce!

Ashmanra’s Sipdown Challenge | July 2023 | A tea with more than 5 ingredients

Finished this packet as a quick iced tea. I don’t love rooibos iced, but I wanted something without caffeine last night, and it couldn’t be warm! I definitely prefer this one hot though.

You can really taste the authentic cranberry on top of the lovely green rooibos. It’s refreshing and fruity cold with little tartness. Nothing reminds me of cranberry sauce specifically – maybe there’s a hint of spice, but I really can’t say. I also have to underleaf this one because the flavors can become a little too much with my normal amount of leaf, but I’m certainly not complaining about that. I think the resteeps taste a little soda-like, so I always enjoyed those more than the first steeps, which somehow always turned out slightly too concentrated.

I think I wished this was on a honeybush base. But I really don’t remember anything about the flavour.
