Tea of the Week for June 6, 2022!

A couple of months ago, I made a Raspberry Parfait tea & I started thinking: why not blackberries? I tend to prefer blackberries to raspberries (I still love raspberries, but I love blackberries even more) – so I decided to go for it & here it is! Blackberry Parfait black tea!

The black tea base is bold & richly flavored & provides a really nice background for the flavors of the creamy custard & the blackberries to express themselves. A sweet & delicious tea time treat that’s also organic, vegan, gluten-free, allergen-friendly & all natural!

organic ingredients: black teas, blackberries, vanilla beans, calendula petals & natural flavors

more about this tea: YUM! This tea has a really nice balance of flavors: the black tea is robust & invigorating (it would make a really nice tea to get you started in the morning!) The blackberry is sweet & juicy tasting. The custard-y “parfait” is creamy, sweet & melds beautifully with the blackberries & black tea.

So nice!

to brew: shake the pouch well to ensure you get an even distribution of ingredients in your measurement. Use 3g of leaf to 12oz of nearly boiling water (205°F) & allow to steep for 3 minutes. Strain & allow to cool for at least 10 minutes. Enjoy!

I do recommend that you watch the steep time carefully, I’ve tested this a couple of times and the best results occur when I keep to the 3 minutes closely or even a few seconds before the 3 minutes expire. When it oversteeps, bitterness will deveilop.

serving suggestion: I enjoyed this tea hot with no additions. I found that if I added a half a teaspoon of sugar or honey, the creamy custard notes popped so I think I prefer this one sweetened because those notes of custard are really delicious. It’s awesome with just a drizzle of raw honey!

I haven’t tried this one iced, but there was one taste test where it cooled off a bit more than I had planned on (read: I forgot I brewed some tea and it cooled down completely) and it was still really good – so I suspect this one will be a winner iced!

The blackberry smelled so jammy and delicious when I opened the packet. I have to say that hot, this tastes like not much. Luckily, I rarely drink my teas hot beyond a first taste. At room temperature with milk and sugar, this was pretty desserty and fun. The milk helped it achieve that parfait direction that it didn’t really have pre-milk. The blackberry goes really well with the black tea and is just jammy and nice. I don’t often crave fruity black teas, but I finished this packet much faster than usual.

I also pretty much always drink my teas tepid or at room temperature.

Love a 52Teas blackberry blend. Though, this one didn’t have the bold blackberry flavor that some others have.

Sometimes a little temperamental but when the creamy blackberry flavour hits it’s divine.

This tea is delightful in all senses—appearance, scent, taste—and it reminds me why I was so excited when I first discovered 52Teas (y’know, like eight months ago… yes, I’m a latecomer). It’s flavorful without tasting artificial, and it just makes me smile. Yum!

I decided to choose this tea to fulfill the prompt “a tea that reminds you of your best friend” (from June’s scavenger hunt). This tea reminds me of one of my children – and my kids are my best friends. :)

Blackberries were their favorite fruits when they were young, we had a big blackberry bush in the front yard and they would go out to the front yard and pick the berries right off the bush and start snacking. So, whenever I think “blackberries” – I think of those treasured memories.

This tea is really delightful. Rich black tea, sweet, creamy parfait notes & sweet berry notes. Nice blackberry finish. So good. This tea is going fast – so I might have to grab another pouch before it sells out!
