Delicate floral scent, like a less-sweet jasmine. Slightly vegetal flavor with a taste in the back of the throat almost like marshmallows. Gentle astringency which brings out a slight grass flavor alongside the floral notes. In my opinion, if you’re really into floral teas and want to get into grassier teas, this would be a good transition tea for you.

This tea is such a beautiful black tea. It has a full body and beautiful warmth. It’s complex but not wildly so; instead, this is a solid daily drinker. This black has an aroma like dark wheat bread and butterscotch. The taste is honey, raisins, and cream. Beautiful and smooth black tea, a little astringency and no bitterness. Really solid, easy to enjoy and great value too.

This tea is a very classic gunpowder green, defined largely by vegetal/grassy flavors and hay-like astringency. Clean with a gentle smokiness that lingers for only a moment. Smells like hay, sweet grass, and a hint of charcoal. Slightly astringent, a dryness that compliments the grassiness. I’m not a huge fan of teas that are really grassy, but this one was still pleasant to drink.

I’m used to black teas that are thick and rich with flavor. This guy is not that way, and embodies more subtle flavors of traditional Assams. While I prefer fuller bodied black teas, this one is still fairly solid. While I would never jump to recommend it, I wouldn’t discourage someone from snagging it either. Tasting notes of cocoa, fruit leather, honey, with a moderate level of astringency.

Dry leaf aroma would mislead you into thinking this tea is one note, flat, and grassy. However, the experience of this tea is so different.

Wet leaf aroma reveals the complexity of this one. Notes of grass, cocoa cream, maybe some subtle nutmeg or something. The leaves lose their complex scent after several steeps, and begin to smell very grassy and somewhat bitter.

Actual flavor was beautifully floral with rose, jasmine, peony, and honeysuckle. Slight sweetness of flower nectar balanced with a semi-nutty vegetal barley scent as well. Complex, beautiful. Will spend more time with this one and update my tasting note as I discover more.

On a journey to learn about tea and experience as much as possible. Interested in the intersections between tea, religion, and critical theory. Love for the leaf.

90-100: I would die for this tea.
80-90: Pretty amazing.
70-80: Pleasant, enjoyable, but doesn’t blow my socks off.
60-70: I like it just fine, but wouldn’t pay very much for it.
50-60: It’s…okay. I’ll finish what I have but I probably won’t repurchase it.
<50: I would discourage people with similar tastes to mine from buying.

If I leave a tea without a rating, it is because I am undetermined and will come back to assess the rating once I’m more familiar with the tea.
