I keep seeing most reviews for chocolate orange teas saying “well, it ain’t Butiki’s” so I was very happy to just try a sample of this rather than stock up. So thank you for the sample, Cameron B! The black tea is rather small, though doesn’t quite look like CTC and I see two pieces of what should be orange going into the infuser. The brew is rather dark, as expected. Sadly, I’m not tasting much in the way of chocolate or orange. The second steep mainly tastes starchy and bready and I don’t think I overdid either steep. So I’m glad I’m not in love with this one, if Lupicia is closing. I’m surprised Lupicia can’t nail this one, as they are usually great at flavoring. I won’t miss it like I miss Three Friends… I do have some of that I’m hoarding.
Steep #1 // 1 teaspoon for a full mug // 16 minutes after boiling // 2 minute steep
Steep #2 // 10 minutes after boiling // 3 minute steep

I still haven’t found a chocolate-orange tea that I’ve liked enough to keep in my cupboard. Womp womp…
Yeah, I can’t think of any great tasting chocolate orange teas either. I wonder if Anne has made one yet for 52Teas. If she has, I haven’t had it.
Oh I just found Chocolate Orange Rooibos and Chocolate Orange Honeybush but who knows when those might be reblended. haha
To be completely fair, I don’t often enjoy chocolate-flavored teas. So maybe I should just add orange to a naturally chocolaty black tea… ;)
Here’s something kind of funny…
“@Cameron B. That says a lot coming from someone who has 1481 tasting notes (and @tea-sipper who has 2662).” was actually meant to go to this thread. That after all this time you have found a choc orange tea enough to keep on your cupboard.
It worked on the other thread too though :D.

Yeah, that sounds like a reasonable idea.
