My friend loved this one. Sadly, even though it was the second time I’d tried it and I was super careful with my water temperature and steep time, I did not. It’s not a bad tea – it’s vaguely fruity and gets better as it cools. There’s just something about the taste that doesn’t hit the spot for me.

I actually wasn’t crazy about it until I had it as an iced tea. Now I keep smaller amounts around to occasionally cold brew.

Hmm, I may have to get some more and try it that way.

This is one of the fall collection teas I was most excited to try. I loved Coffee Pu’erh and thought that the combination of coffee beans and tea could only be improved by chocolate and fruit. Well …

Dry, this tea smells like chocolate covered cherries – mouthwateringly delicious. I added 1.5tsp to my Perfect Mug and brewed it for five minutes, as per the directions on the package. I added sugar to sweeten things up, remembering the odd sour taste I had gotten the first time I tried this tea.

Steeped, this smells like horse feed. I don’t get fruit or coffee at all. The taste isn’t horrible – this is drinkable tea – it’s vaguely fruity and the chocolate/coffee bean mix gives it a dusky quality,
but it leaves an unpleasant, bitter aftertaste in my mouth.

Overall, I’m just not enjoying this one. Looking forward to using up what I have so I can try out some teas from Butiki.

Still really enjoying this as a breakfast tea. The taste is lacking even with sugar compared to the original sample I had, though. Not quite sure what’s causing it. Maybe the huge Brazil nuts aren’t releasing a lot of flavor? I’m not sure. That’s really become my only complaint. I ordered a 50g bag of this from DAVIDsTEA and most of the Brazil nuts are HUGE. I have a quarter of the bag I ordered left and I got it a week ago. I’m tempted to crush them up to try to get more flavor out of them and more cups of tea out of what I have left, but I’m not sure it’s worth it.

I always crush the brazil nuts before steeping.. releases so much more of the flavor!

Worth trying it then! As I’ve gone down through the bag, I’ve gotten more and more disappointed with the flavor. Time to find something to crush the nuts with!

Another backlog.

I was excited for this one. Sweet fruit + tea? What could go wrong?

The scent is great, heavy on the mangoes and it screams “I’m going to be delicious!” Steeped however . . .

It’s vile. Chemical-ly, doesn’t taste like fruit at all, bitter, nasty tea. Not what I was expecting at all. So disappointed by this one.

I tried a shorter steep time for this tea, hoping to bring out the lemon that’s overpowering in the scent of the dry leaves.

Nothing.

I tried sugar to bring out the lemon dessert quality others mentioned here.

Also nothing.

It tastes a lot like the Lipton tea bags when my mom makes them. Not a bad thing as I don’t mind these … but not what I was expecting from a lemon tea.

It’s a good morning-at-the-office tea, just not one I plan on reordering.

Sipdown! I used the last of my sample to make my morning cup of tea. I remember being underwhelmed by this tea the first time I had it. The aroma of the dry leaves was very thick and sweet, as was the brewed tea. The taste, however, lacked that sweetness. Truthfully, it fell flat for me. I expected a much bolder flavor based on thd smell and was disappointed with what I got.

I didn’t really go back to this tea after the first cup. … Okay. I may have gotten bored and mixed some with my Coffee Pu’erh because rum+coffee = awesome and gotten a really bad result.

Anyway. The leaves still smell sweet and the brewed tea smells like a butter rum LifeSaver candy! Yum! The taste, however, is still meh. It doesn’t taste like anything to me. Hot water, a little sugar, no flavor. Maybe I didn’t use enough leaves, but this is one tea I won’t be restocking.

drank Jessie's Tea by DAVIDsTEA

I found Steepster a few months after I got into tea. I’ve been reading all the wonderful reviews here and absolutely love the site! But it took me a few more months to realize that I could use Steepster as a way to keep track of what I’ve tried and what I’d like to try.

So … a lot of my reviews are old. Sorry about that.

Jessie’s Tea came in the Sweet Indulgence Sampler I bought from DAVIDsTEA this spring. I love the look of the loose leaves – it’s such a pretty mix and the colors are really relaxing. It brews up to a dark red-brown color. The thing that got me about this tea was the smell, though. It smells like soap dry and still retains that lavender body wash scent when it’s brewed. The taste wasn’t bad, but I couldn’t get over the smell. I tried it again last night with more success – there was less lavender smell, and I loved the way this tea coated the back of my throat and left a pleasant, lingering taste in my mouth. Only complaint was that some sips resulted in a scratchy feeling as I swallowed. These seemed to alternate with the “throat coat” sips.

Not a tea I’d keep on hand, but definitely a nice tea to relax with before bed.

drank Coffee Pu'erh by DAVIDsTEA

I was hesitant to try this one. It was after dinner and I was looking for a dessert tea. This one smelled delicious in its little sample tin, but what about those reports that pu’erh can smell like fish? Yuck! I don’t want that in my tea! I cautiously boiled water, added 1.5tsp of dry leaf to my infuser, and began brewing.

It smelled like coffee and chocolate – no fish here! The taste was rich and sweet – a thick tea with a vaguely chocolate taste to it. The steeped tea was a dark brown, a perfect complement to the delicious smell and taste. Yum!

Second steep was more of the same from the first – chocolate, coffee, heavenly aroma. No fish here!

But on the third steep, there it was in the background, the smell of a grocery store seafood section lingering over the coffee/chocolate goodness. Disappointing. The taste from previous steepings was still there, though muted. I couldn’t get past the smell though, and I didn’t bother with a fourth steeping.

Overall, a delicious tea I look forward to stocking up on. Bet this would be a fantastic breakfast accompaniment!

Steeped 2 tsp of this in a 12oz Perfect Mug. Dry, this tea smells like fresh lemons. The leaves steep up to a dark amber-brown liquid with an oily film on top. The smell of the brewed tea is less fresh lemon and more hot iced tea made from one of those Lipton pre-made mixes. The taste of the brewed tea is lemon … but it’s faint and flat. Not a bad tea, but definitely lacking on the flavor side of things. The aftertaste is a nice pop of lemon, but the initial taste of the tea is not. I don’t even know how to describe it. It’s … grainy. I think this is another that would benefit from a little bit of sugar.

Another new tea from my order! Yay! I love having new things to try.

After reading the reviews for this tea, I was expecting something with a lot more fruitiness. I steeped about 1.5 tsp of the dry leaf in my new Perfect Mug and took a sip. A hint of spicy. Definitely a seasoned tea. Skimpy on the fruit taste – there was barely any in either of my steeps despite the presence of a pineapple chunk in my infuser.

I like this one, but it really didn’t live up to my expectations. Not a bad caffeine free option for before bedtime. Maybe I’ll up the amount of leaves I use next time and see how it works out.

I became interested in tea spring 2013, when some friends of mine brought me to a local tea shop. I’ve been experimenting since, and am absolutely in love! I am especially fond of blended teas, and I’m a sucker for gimicky flavors.

My cupboard is stocked with a lot of DAVIDsTEA at the present, although I do have a few teas from some local shops. I’m looking forward to branching out and trying teas from different vendors and shops. Let the journey begin!
