drank Cotton Candy White Tea by 52teas
2170 tasting notes

I love the pink petals in this one! It feels very appropriate for February and Valentine’s Day week. It smells sour like blackberries. The flavor is very light and doesn’t taste like cotton candy or much of anything really. But to be fair, this is an older tea and also a white tea which I don’t usually drink or love.

drank Eggnog Pound Cake by A Quarter to Tea
2170 tasting notes

A beautiful tea! It’s very fluffy with huge leaves and long curls of cinnamon bark. It doesn’t really smell like eggnog or pound cake to me, but it does have a spice note. It tastes of cinnamon and, strangely enough, raisins. I have a hard time finding flavor in white teas but this one does have some flavor compared to others.

drank Coquito by A Quarter to Tea

Oh wow, this smells so good. So tropical! Hopefully this is still good with the coconut. It still smells amazing so I’m hopeful. Definitely smelling the tropical coconut in the dry blend. It even smells creamy, if that’s a thing. Under the coconut is the promised spice blend. The ginger is definitely there. The taste is good but not very flavorful. Could be the age on this one. It could also be the fact that it’s a white tea and I can never extract enough flavor from those. It’s disappointing given how incredible it smells.

drank Chai Houjicha by 52teas

Pretty excited to open this and see a huge green cardamom pod right on top. It went right into my strainer basket. This has a nice, strong spice aroma with clove being the most prominent for me. The roasted qualities of the tea are really coming out as it steeps. I can taste the cinnamon. Adding a touch of cream to see how it handles it. I like it, though it waters things down a bit. I do enjoy a creamy chai. Nicely spiced.

drank Rosemary Tangerine by 52teas
2170 tasting notes

This is an interesting one. Citrus notes in the dry blend but full on rosemary in the steeped tea. I love rosemary so I enjoy that flavor, but something about this I don’t like. Maybe the green tea itself? Admittedly, I’m not a great fan of green teas generally. Perhaps that’s adding to my hesitation here.

drank Pick Me Up by DAVIDsTEA

I was very worried when I opened this and immediately smelled licorice root. But I do need a pick-me-up this afternoon so we’re moving forward. It’s really not so bad as I expected. The licorice is prominent but that’s not all there is. I’m going to cheat and have a look at the ingredients because I can’t place this flavor. It seems floral. Maybe rose? I can also definitely smell the turmeric in the dry blend. There is a lingering spice as well, maybe from the black pepper.

You know, I have to be honest. I wasn’t expecting much from this tea. I love Piper & Leaf but the smell of the dry blend threw me off. I’m not sure why because I love chai-spiced blends, but I kept putting this one aside in favor of others. It finally happened that this was the last black tea in my work bag so here we are.

I’ll admit that the addition of oregano and dill seed interests me. I don’t smell or taste those flavors though, unfortunately. Even so, this is a solid and delightful chai. No specific flavor stands out, but it’s nicely spiced. The tea itself isn’t too strong or too weak, nor is it bitter or astringent. I’m very pleasantly surprised and entirely happy with this cup.

I don’t love many chai blends, bit this is great iced to me!

I haven’t tried it iced! Could you pick up the oregano or dill?

If there is clove in a blend, that is mostly what I taste! I get black tea, clove, but if ginger, fennel, a touch of black pepper, and maybe coriander. I literally just poured a glass to search for the dill and oregano and I don’t taste them, but I am not as good at discerning flavors as some of you!

Oh I’m not great at picking out individual flavors either. My notes usually just say something like “fruity” lol.

I’m really enjoying this one, which I can’t say often for Yogi teas as a whole. It’s a nice, comforting cup. I’m a sucker for adaptogens so the ashwagandha in this excites me.

The flavor is nice. I could see it being more tangerine than orange. I’m not sure if it’s the weather or if it’s just anxiety kicking in more than usual lately but I’ve been struggling with the positivity lately. Not that this one tea can fix everything, but I thought it couldn’t hurt.

I love flavored black teas most of all, always with cream and honey. I enjoy floral and fruity teas, as well as flavored or scented ones. I’m not overly fond of green or white teas, but I’ve found a few that I enjoy.

I’m open to tea swaps and/or just sharing what’s in my tea cabinet! Please reach out if you see something I have that you’d like to try. I do my best to update my cupboard regularly.

Rating Scale

1-20: By far, one of the worst teas I’ve tasted. I most certainly will not finish my cup and will likely “gift” the rest to my sweet husband, James, who almost always enjoys the teas I dislike (and vice versa).

21-49: This tea is not good, but if I mix it with another tea or find another steeping method I might be able to finish it.

50-69: This one is just okay. I might drink it again if someone were to give it to me, but I probably won’t be buying more for myself.

70-79: This is a consistently good tea. It’s reliable but not necessarily special.

80-90: This one is a notch above the rest and I would gladly enjoy a cup of it any day of the week. I’ll likely be keeping this in my cupboard, but it isn’t one of my all-time favorites.

91-95: One small change and this tea would be perfect. I’ll definitely have a stash of this in my kitchen if you come over for tea.

96-100: No words can describe this tea. It’s an experience, an aha moment. Closed eyes, wide smile, encompassing warmth. Absolutely incredible. Perfect.
