2172 Tasting Notes
I remember Mastress Alita talking about this one a while back, so I was excited to see it as a sample in the gift box I bought for Christmas. I prepared it with whole milk and honey and then put it in the blender to get it nice and frothy. I really enjoyed it. Very comforting, warming. I only have a bit left, but I’ll order more of this once it’s gone.
Preparation
My pick for National Strawberry Day. Strawberry teas are my very favorite, especially strawberry black teas, but I’m going in with something different today and trying a honeybush I picked up recently. Unfortunately, it doesn’t taste or smell anything like strawberries. Or pie. My first and immediate thought was that it smells like cherry cough syrup. The taste is medicinal as well but with that woodsy note added from the honeybush. Side note – I haven’t decided yet if I actually like honeybush. Most of the blends I’ve tried are from 52Teas, though there was one from Satori that I really enjoyed. It’s like it has this almost stale nutty taste that dominates all the other flavors. Does anyone else experience this or is it just me? Maybe I feel about honeybush the way some others feel about red rooibos (which I do like, by the way). The honeybush is overpowering the other flavors in this cup as well, but since the other flavors are cherry and medicine it’s not such a big deal.

I’m subscribed to just add honey tea co‘s newsletter and they recently sent out a recipe for a hibiscus margarita. I love margaritas but wasn’t in the mood for tequila tonight so I made the drink without. Here are the ingredients I used -
2 oz. dried Hibiscus Tea
8 oz hot water
½ oz. fresh lime juice
¼ oz. agave nectar
Two ounces of dried hibiscus was A LOT, but I faithfully followed the instructions and came out with a very tart, very strong hibiscus drink. It occurred to me that it was thick, almost like syrup, so I thought to try using it as such. I added a little more agave nectar to a tall glass, followed by maybe a quarter cup of the hibiscus syrup, and topped it off with cherry Bubly sparkling water.
This is definitely my new favorite way to have hibiscus.

Preparation
I put too much honey in this one so that’s mostly what I taste. Before steeping, it had a very perfumy fragrance, though not in a negative way. I don’t know if I would call it floral, maybe I would, but it was definitely not spicy like some of the other blends I’ve tried from this company.
