2170 Tasting Notes

This is a really nice tea! My husband had a cup earlier this week and didn’t care for it, but he’s not really a black tea drinker so I should have known I would like it. We typically like opposite teas. The dry blend smells mostly of pineapple, but I can taste some of the coconut after steeping. The base is strong but not overpowering. It really is such a pleasant cup, maybe one of my favorites in the box so far.

I’m really excited about this blend with blackberries, cardamom, and nutmeg. The cumin is an interesting addition too that I’m looking forward to trying. I do like hazelnut but I’m not tasting it or the blackberry. Maybe it’s me? Why am I not picking up on these flavors? There was a large dried blackberry in my strainer, but I just don’t taste it. This is a good chai and I can taste the spices so I’m enjoying it, I’m just not picking up on any of the main flavors.

I normally steer clear of hibiscus, especially when hot, but this seemed like a good tea for nighttime. First thoughts were hot strawberry jello, but drinking it it’s really not at all like jello. The hibiscus isn’t tart like I expected and it almost has a strawberry candy flavor. This might be really nice iced. I think hibiscus is much more refreshing when iced anyway. On the whole, I would return to this for a nice cup of herbal tea.

Even with the lackluster tasting notes on this one, I really wanted to try it. Not just because of the description, but also because of the aroma of the blend straight from the bag. I can’t quite place it, but it reminds me of other blends I’ve tried from AQ2T. It’s very distinct. Maybe raspberry? The flavor, unfortunately, is lacking just as others have said. I did use two teaspoons of dry leaf so it’s not bland at all, but I don’t taste caramel or cheesecake. The berry flavor is there, just as it smells in the blend before steeping, so that’s nice. It’s just not living up to its name.
Probably my last caffeinated tea for the day. I’m buzzing.

I got a vague sense of cookie dough while this was steeping, but now that I’m drinking it I’m not really tasting it. I do taste a little chocolate, maybe like chocolate chips. It’s very light and bland, with a small amount of bitterness. I did steep this based on some of the other reviews instead of per the package directions so that could account for the bitterness. I was really looking forward to this one after reading some of the reviews, but this one just isn’t for me.

Reading the description, this one is supposed to be more like the little strawberry candies than the fruit itself. I can smell that in the dry blend, but it gets lost for me after steeping. I do taste a tartness and a general berry flavor, but I wouldn’t associate it with strawberries or strawberry candy if I didn’t know the name or description of the tea.

I love a good chai blend, but this one didn’t hit all the right notes for me. The maple was there, as well as some caramel, but the spice was missing. It was light on flavor, unfortunately, and not as bold as I would have liked it to be.

Switching over to caffeine free blends for the night. I’m pleasantly surprised by this one. It smells of juicy apricots right out of the bag. I can’t get over how authentic it is. I much prefer this hot rather than cooled to room temperature. The honeybush/rooibos competes with the apricot as it cools and while I do enjoy those flavors, the apricot is what makes this tea so enjoyable. A nice tea for a nightcap.

Working through some of these yummy teas and finally having a restful and enjoyable day of vacation. The days leading up to Christmas were hectic and the last couple of days I’ve been sick, so this has been my first day to just sit and enjoy some tea and a bit of reading. I’m finishing up the last of my modules for my health coach training program and then I’ll start my herbalism courses in January. Feeling super excited!
I was worried I may have steeped this too hot because the wet leaves smelled a bit like burnt bread, but the flavor is chocolaty (albeit rather thin) with no trace of bitterness. As it cools, the chocolate flavor is coming through even more. A nice cup, though one I probably wouldn’t purchase on my own.

I’ve been loving Harney & Sons lately, so I was super excited to see this one included in the TTB. There is a light aroma of stone fruits in the dry blend, and it becomes even lighter once steeped. I’m not getting very much flavor really, so that’s unfortunate. I think doubling up on the dry leaf might have made a difference. I’m also tasting the tiniest bit of chocolate so perhaps that’s the base? I would try this again, but perhaps prepared differently.
Flavors: Chocolate, Stonefruit
I really like this one — I also discovered it in another teabox.
