drank S’mores Chai by DAVIDsTEA
85 tasting notes

I have really enjoyed this blend! I am just getting back into tea after dealing with a lot of morning sickness (I’m 20 weeks pregnant). I like that there is low caffeine in this blend so its okay for me to drink a cup or two. Its sweet but not overly so, I added a pinch of agave. I can definitely taste the cinnamon graham cracker flavor and the chocolate is light- its not too chocolatey. The marshmallow is subtle but I can definitely smell and taste all the components working together to create the illusion of s’mores….the one thing I wouldn’t peg this tea as is Chai…but thats completely okay. Its delectable. And I’m picky these days!

Well, today has been such a rough day. Mila has been so fussy lately, I think she is cutting another tooth. I literally haven’t had a moment to myself all day. Thankfully, Ted came to my rescue and got her settled while I took a hot shower and relaxed for a minute. Afterwards I, of course, needed to make a cup of tea. What better way to relax than a warm cup of tea, and maple tea to boot!
Maple Forest was one of the teas of the week this month at 52Teas. Unfortunately it is no longer available, but hopefully it will make its return sometime soon because I am now OBSESSED. The tea’s base is very similar to my other favorite, Toasted Marshmallow. It consists of Houjicha (a roasted green tea) and Shou Mei (white tea). The result is a roast-y, toast-y, and smooth drinking tea. Unlike Toasted Marshmallow, this tea contains maple and boy is it DELICIOUS. Because of the toast-yness of the Houjicha/Shou Mei mix, this tea is reminding me an awful lot of Sunday morning pancakes. Delectable! This would be a great cup to have with breakfast.
I certainly made space on my countertop for this blend and it will be happily enjoyed by me daily. I am sad that this tea is gone and glad that I stocked up, but I’m sure it will make another appearance in the future. So keep your eyes peeled if you are interested in trying it!

Wow, this sounds amazing!

Inkling- have you tried Toasted Marshmallow (Houjicha/shoe mei) from 52 teas?

Inkling

No, I haven’t. They both sound lovely, though!

Love Love Love this!! Ooooh Anne you did it again! What an amazing blend. The first thing I tasted was cinnamon and then came in the peach and ginger and creamy cheesecake. Mmmmm! So delightful. I am not usually a fan of ginger having a strong presence so I was thankful that it was more of a complimentary hint, opposed to a dominant flavor. This was so delightful I do wish I had tried this in the fall!

drank Banana Nut Bread by DAVIDsTEA

This tea is bananas…b-a-n-a-n-a-s. Holy moly….listen, I dont usually like banana flavored ANYTHING. But I love anything nutty. So, because this is called banana NUT bread, I decided to give it a go. And boy am I glad I did! The dry blend is very much a trail-mix look alike. I feel like I could just eat it. Alas, I did not. I steeped a little over 1 perfect spoonful (a little over 2.5tsps) in 16 oz of water (DAVID’s Nordic Mug). I steeped it for 10 minutes at the recommendation of my fellow steepster reviewers. Once steeped, this tea smells exactly like freshly baked banana bread. I added a tiny little splash of DAVID’s vanilla agave and just the most minuscule splash of milk. Oh boy does it taste heavenly. Its sweet and nutty with a hint of banana. The banana is present, but not overpowering. The nut flavor really comes out. I am so glad I faced my banana-flavor fear and tried this. I bet it would be dang good as an iced latte!

drank White Chocolate Rose by DAVIDsTEA

I want to review this tea again because I love it so much! I wish they would make it part of their permanent collection. Yesterday my guy came home with 10oz of it as a little surprise for me. So, I am up to my eyeballs in it lol and I’m NOT complaining. YUM. This, honey lullaby, and caramel corn are my two favorites from David’s at the current moment. YUM YUM YUM! The smell is so relaxing. You can totally smell the rose 100% but its not perfume-y. The flavor of the black tea stands out and the white chocolate is in the background and basically just lends it’s creaminess and slight sweetness to the overall flavor of black tea and rose. I never knew I enjoyed floral teas so much until I tried this blend. It was actually unexpected that I ended up liking it. I thought I would have liked Berry Romantic better, but that wasn’t the case. Try this before its gone!!!!

drank Santa's Secret by DAVIDsTEA

Oh my goodness. I think I have some sort of a stomach flu! So, I dug through my tea stash and saw this tea & I remembered that it has peppermint in it. Hoping that the mint in the tea would calm my belly down I brewed up a cup. The dry leaf smells yummy, like vanilla and a hint of minty sweet. Brewed it smells much like vanilla and I couldn’t quite detect peppermint. On taste, vanilla is very prominent and the mint is there but I dont know…they dont compliment each other well in this tea. It wasn’t for me, unfortunately. There was a strange taste to it that I can’t put my finger on.

No. Just no. This tea made me nauseous. The smell makes me nauseous and the taste makes me nauseous too. Its way too sweet. Way too marzipan. Theres nothing that cuts that sweetness. It needed another component…like more nuts or apple or something. The sweetness was too overpowering. I wish I never got it such a waste of money!

I dont know! I dont know how i feel about this tea…it smells almost like forever nuts from DAVIDsTEA. It doesn’t taste that way though. I do get a hint of bread/yeast. It almost tastes like sweetbread filled with almonds and almond cream or something. But not in a cherry/artificial way. In a good way. I am gonna try it again tomorrow and see how i feel then.
