I knew this one would be a risky choice, but I wanted to try it anyway. Let’s just start off by saying I really don’t like coconut. Or almond flavouring. It’s strange, I really love coconut in tea though! And I like real almonds, but not so much in tea. Nutty teas are generally not my friends. Even more than that, I loathe the concentrated almond flavour that’s present in both marzipan and almond flavouring. Hate it!! It tastes like fake medicinal cherries to me, and to top it all off I really don’t like cherries.

Now that I’ve complained about all of the things I don’t like, onwards to the tea! :P
I should’ve looked at the ingredients before ordering, because almond flavouring is clearly listed. For some reason I was thinking it would just be slivered almonds, which I can deal with. I don’t mind the almonds in DTs chocolate rocket, cause they really don’t dominate the flavour. When I smelled the dry leaf I think I pouted quite a bit. The dreaded cherry-marzipan almond flavouring was the dominant scent.

Once I brewed it up, it still smelled strongly of marzipan, and as I sipped it was just smacking me in the face. I’m sure it’s not actually that dominant, but it comes out really aggressively for me, probably because it’s a taste I hate. I get a bit of the chocolate and coconut if I really try.

I think people who enjoy marzipan and almondy flavoured treats would love this! It’s really rich and the flavours are nice and strong. I still found it drinkable, even though it wasn’t my favourite, which has got to mean that it’s a pretty nice blend. It has been designated to the work stash now, which means I’ll probably be able to get through my packet. Unless of course I can find it a better home!

It sounds excellent!

Almonds are my favorite nut but I absolutely cannot stand almond flavoring in tea. I’m glad I’m not the only one! I can’t stand amaretto or marzipan either, I guess maybe it’s just a sweet almond flavor that grosses me out.

Azz – I can send it your way next time I get paid if you think you’ll like it! I’ve had a couple more cups since this note and it’s really not for me.

And Amanda – definitely not alone! Almonds are delicious. Marzipan and amaretto? Not so much. Weird how the flavours are so different.

Yay another sipdown!

This was my favourite of the cake teas. The only one I actually liked, really. It’s pretty scummy even in a tsac though, which is no fun. But I love the neapolitan ice cream vibe that it has going on.

On to new teas! :)

After tasting this, I couldn’t believe how long I waited to order from Butiki. I am LOVING everything so far. This one might just be my favourite.

I love how light and crisp and refreshing it is. This is probably the freshest-tasting pineapple flavour that I’ve had in a tea. It’s not overly candy-sweet or sickly at all, just a bright, smooth kiss of pineapple. Deelish!

I think the floral note is what makes it so interesting and addicting. Is it a flavouring that’s added, or just a natural quality of the oolong? Either way it’s really, really lovely. I don’t have oolongs that often, but I’m really starting to enjoy them.

I had it hot for my first try, but I’ll definitely try it iced as well. It would be SO delicious iced, I can just tell! I like that it’s one of those versatile teas that’ll be tasty no matter the temperature.

Butiki Teas

So glad you are enjoying the teas! The floral note is all the oolong. Only natural organic pineapple flavor was used for this blend.

Butiki Teas

There will also be a slight bit of floral from the calendula pieces but the oolong base is very floral.

Wow! Tea continues to amaze me :)

Ohhh. Wow. I just don’t even know where to begin. I’ve been searching for the perfect straight up vanilla black tea for a while now, and I think this is it.

Such an unassuming name, description, and ingredient list for such an amazingly delicious tea! Just black tea and vanilla flavour. But I swear it tastes like little vanilla clouds on my tongue. Sweet, creamy, smooth vanilla flavour with a toasty black tea base and just a liiiittle bit of astringency that seems to keep it from getting too heavy.

Drinking it like I drink most black teas – hot with milk and sugar. It is so relaxing and satisfying and just what I needed after work.

This is my first cup from Della Terra; just picked up my order today. Everything smells pretty darn intoxicating. I love the great deals and giveaways they have for their customers too! A really nice touch, and will keep me coming back.

Oh boy, between this and my Butiki order I am drowning in new teas. 15 of them. It is the BEST. Shhh don’t tell my girlfriend that I smuggled more tea into the house. She would most certainly shake her head and click her tongue. I bet she’s going to love some of the ones from this order though, who can resist desserty blacks?

Della Terra Teas

Thank you for the amazing review. We are glad you liked it! Made with real vanilla beans btw. :) You know, I’ve had this tea a hundred times and it never gets old. A great classic and one of my favorites! Oh, and don’t worry, we won’t tell anyone you’re a tea smuggler. ha ha

Sigh, another to add to the list for my next Della Terra order. (There isn’t even a list at this point because of all the new ones hahaha.)

I thought there must be some real vanilla in there for it to taste this awesome! The ingredients just list vanilla flavouring. It really is a classic though, so simple and comforting. And yes Amanda you have to try it! It’s even better than I had hoped. I’m a pretty huge vanilla fan though.

Oh man must get this.

pricks up ears O.O

Unfortunately research shows that geography and shipping issues puts it out of my reach. Oh well.

I’m glad you found your Perfect Vanilla Black, though. It gives me hope that mine is out there too. Somewhere…

Sipdown at work!

I’m going to start bringing more of the teas I don’t drink often at home to work. That way it’s a choice between them and the crappy tea bags they supply at the office, so I’ll clear out some of my stash.

This one’s actually quite good; better than I remember. It smells so wonderful while steeping too. My one beef though is that because of the scent, I expect it to be as strong and sweet as cider, which of course it isn’t and shouldn’t be because it’s tea. It does have a great bakey apple-cinnamon thing going on though. Sometimes I like to pour a little cider in, if I have it. It adds a nice natural sweetness and of course some appleyness as well!

I’m not the biggest green tea fan (other than matcha of course) but this is a really solid blend. Oddly enough, I’ve been wanting to get rid of this one for a while, but now that it’s gone I’m sad to see it go.

Yayy my first order from Butiki came! So excited to try it. Wonderful customer service thus far, and quick shipping. I went for this one first since I am super exhausted tonight. Is it seriously only Wednesday? Sigh. Plus it smells wonderful.

I did a 5min steep, which turned out pretty well for me. I’ve only had one guayusa blend, and I only drink that one iced. I wanted hot tea tonight, so I might as well give hot guayusa a try. I sweetened it just a tad, to hopefully bring out the creamy vanilla.

This is such an interesting blend! When I tried it hot-hot, I could taste mostly earthy guayusa. It’s a nice flavour, but I notice a slightly sour note at the back of my tongue. It’s not entirely off putting, just a little strange. As it cools a bit, the vanilla comes out fully and is just amazing. It’s followed by smooth, sweet mint and just a hint of lavender. The guayusa flavour really holds the whole thing together, and the more it cools, the less I get of the sour note.

I really like this blend! I think I’ll bring it to work to get me through the afternoons. Can’t wait to get into the rest of my order :)

I feel ya on the its only Wednesday problem. What is up with the last couple of weeks?

I’ve still got to make a Butiki order.

Finally tried matcha shaken up in a water bottle. It’s so delicious! Really refreshing, not at all bitter, with a good hit of both green tea and boysenberry flavour. I’m almost getting a cotton candy vibe from it prepared like this. This is so candy-like in flavour, but really fruity and natural too. Yum!

I really love matcha like this. I wasn’t sure if I would, but its fantastic. It’s strange, I like my iced teas straight and unsweetened, but I can never resist a bit of milk and sugar in my hot tea. I don’t think I’d like this sweetened. I love that matcha can act as a replacement for those little crystal light thingers. Much healthier and tastier. I never drink enough water, but I can see myself drinking more if it has TEA in it :D

I’m so glad I was able to grab some of the reblend of this! It is absolutely lovely. Everything an Earl Grey should be – lightly floral, good helping of bergamot, sturdy base – with a wonderful creamy note that isn’t particularly sweet, but really rich and full textured.

I didn’t really get a strong distinguishable cheesecake note, but the overall creaminess gives a sort of suggestion of cheesecake. I kind of like that, surprisingly.

This holds up as a really great earl. I was initially hoping for a more strong, sweet cheesecake kind of thing, I was pleasantly surprised by this blend. I can see it becoming a staple for me, which makes me sad since it’s not a part of the permanent collection. A real shame, this is such a subtle and classy blend.

I hadn’t tried iced matcha yet, so I figured I’d give it a shot tonight.

I added about a teaspoon of sifted matcha to about 3/4 cup of milk an about 1/2 tsp of powdered sugar in my magic bullet.

Ooh it’s super creamy! Well of course it is, I used all milk. Just a touch sweet and really rich. The caramel comes through really nicely like this. It had a really smooth froth on top, likely thanks to the magic bullet. I wish I had some ice to pour this over.

I really like the cold matcha latte. Need to try it with cheesecake. Tomorrow I think I’ll try the iced matcha in a water bottle method with boysenberry. Sounds so refreshing that way.

This is the best smelling chocolate tea. Probably ever. Mm, smells like mint chip ice cream! Creamy chocolate, plenty of mint, and a hint of vanilla coming through. I used to drink a lot more of this when I first discovered it. It was the first chocolate tea that I actually liked. I find a lot of them to be gross-artificial, and they end up giving me a headache. Not this one though!

My only real gripe with it, and the reason I stopped drinking it as often, is that it doesn’t taste anywhere near as good as it smells. It’s delicious, for sure, but after you’ve smelled the dry leaf, the tea itself doesn’t even compare. Sigh.

Still one of my favourite chocolate teas though! I had it at work today and it made my boring day a little nicer. I need to start bringing ‘real’ tea to work more often. I could get used to this desk job business, if it means drinking tea all day :D

I agree, this smells SO amazing… doesn’t taste equally so.

Queer femme looking for love in the form of tea. Currently on a (seemingly never-ending) quest to convince my girlfriend of the magic of loose leaf.

Let’s see..I’m a 23 year old seemingly perma-student, having finished at university and moved on to college. I love reading. I love tea. I love reading while drinking tea. It really doesn’t take much to keep me happy.

Black tea is my all time favourite, preferably hot with milk and sugar. I like flavoured blacks the best, and my taste is embarrassingly unrefined. If it has some outlandish candy or dessert or fruity sounding name, I’m all over it. Especially things like coconut, caramel, chocolate (the usual suspects), bubblegum, cotton candy, and the list goes on. If it’s supposed to taste like something it’s not, odds are I’m going to love it. I also love a good earl grey, floral teas, and anything with currants. Love me some currants!

When it comes to iced teas I love fruity herbal blends and matés, for the most part. They are my hydration option of choice in the summer and I always have at least a glass ready for me in the fridge, if not a pitcher.

I am a self-proclaimed David’sTea fangirl, so please excuse the fact that most of my logs tend to be a little biased in their favour. I just can’t help myself, I must try all-the-tea from David’s!

I’m starting to get interested in matcha, and though I’ve loved the cups I’ve had prepared for me by others, I’ve never tried making it myself. I’m going to have to break down and order some soon, if only just to try.
