286 Tasting Notes
While this tea doesn’t taste very much like carrot cake, it’s not a bad tasting tea. It has some spiciness that’s not overpowering. I added some creamer and a touch of sweetener (maple syrup) and I found this to be a pleasant dessert type tea.
I tried a re-steep – didn’t work. Had to dump it. Bleh.
Sipdown.
Sniffles. Sad it’s gone. So good – deep and rich. Gone. :(
I’m working on it. We had sourced several black pearls over the years, but this supplier made the best ones. I am working on him to produce these again next year. Fingers crossed that spring time will see him wanting to use the material for pearls.
But I’ll tell you, our current crop of Black Gold is very very nice, my favorite crop so far from this producer. Worth a try. Golden Needle premium is also quite good.
I’ll keep working on the producer to make these pearls again!!
This is my first venture with keemun – I would not normally have purchased this tea based on the description, but this was a sample given to me in my Teavivre order, so I decided to give it a go.
I wasn’t very nice to this poor tea. I steeped it far too long. Well, what a pleasant surprise that it was still really tasty. It was malty and a little bread-y. I decided to re-steep the leaves even though I over did it the first time around, and while the flavour was milder (no surprise there) it was still quite flavourful. I am impressed.
I will definitely be purchasing this one at some point.
As soon as I opened the sample packet I could smell the strong sweet fruit in this tea. I thought from the scent that I would love this tea, but sadly, it just wasn’t for me – not as a hot brew.
I have enough left to do a cold brew, which I’ll do even though we’re heading for some chilly days. I think this will taste much better when cold brewed.
This is really good. Malty and a bit of the outdoors in the taste. I’m not getting cocoa or spice, but I am enjoying the flavours from my cup.
Thank you Dexter3657 and Mandala for another exquisite tea.
Sure hope the producer we acquired these from makes them again. This year, sadly, they did not. I’ll keep on them and hope that spring 2014 sees them producing these again. They are really the best ones I’ve gotten before. I’ll be seeing them again in April on a buying trip so let’s keep our fingers crossed. We sold our last ounce just a few days ago :( Happy to sell tea, for sure, but sad to see a great to end. Thanks for your write up!!
i wish tealish sold smaller sizes…
I agree – some of their tea’s are going to be a challenge to finish ‘cos they are only ok there’s too much…
on the flip side, it means i don’t order from them and there’s less risk to me falling in love with yet another tea i must have hahahaha
haha – I also won’t be ordering from them for that very reason, but – insert sigh – I’m sure the next greatest tea that I must always have (I usually find one in every order or swap) is still to come :D
