286 Tasting Notes
A tasty treat sent to me from JustJames – thank you! If not for you, I probably would never have tried the Dammann Freres tea’s.
This tastes mostly of marzipan. There is a little bit of amaretto lurking in the background, but up front is the marzipan. I haven’t had marzipan in ages, and this makes me want to get some. Yum.
This came in a surprise package sent to me from JustJames – thank you so much for sharing with me!
I remembered reading the note on this blend, but I couldn’t remember what was in it except for banana. I intentionally did not look it up just to see what flavours I would discover. I could see in the blend the coconut, so I was kind of expecting a cream pie type of flavour. What I actually got was cookies. The banana flavour is quite prominent – but it’s good; it tastes like real bananas. The coconut lends a nice creaminess to the tea. I am also getting a touch of acidity.
Despite the pralines eluding me the first time around, I found this delicious. I have enough leaves for another cup, and so another chance to enjoy this blend.
Again, thank you so much JustJames for the sample. This was really good!
I have been ignoring my green tea’s lately in favour of black tea’s. This one has been sitting in my cupboard (virtual and real) for quite some time. It was one of the first tea’s that I ordered online.
The first few times I’ve tried this I wasn’t very impressed. It seemed to lack flavour. I must have been doing something wrong either with the water temperature or steep time, because now I love it. When I steep it correctly I get a sweet, creamy butter flavour that is just so good. When I steep it too long it tastes like bitter vegetables.
Now that I’ve figured out how to make this delicious I suspect my sample will be done some time in the next week. I would even consider ordering it again.
So I had my water boiled and ready to go, and I knew which tea I wanted to drink, and I thought I knew exactly where this particular tea was. Wrong. There are only 5 possible places in my home where this tea could possibly be hiding, so where is it??!! It took me 10 minutes to find, and wouldn’t you know it was in the desk right beside me. Hiding behind the box that it came in.
So I prepared fresh water, and am now sipping on sweet caramel goodness. It was worth the hunt. This tea is so silky smooth. I bought this tea because of the way it looked in the photo – all the long golden strands. I just knew I had to have it.
Another delicious tea from Mandala – thank you!
I guess I didn’t like this very much the first time I tried it, but something changed from then to now, because it went down much easier this time around. On my last note I had decided that I might like it better if I added sugar and cream. I didn’t do that. I had it straight up.
There was still that earthy roasted flavour, but this time around it was more appealing.
Thanks Dexter3657 for sending me this sample!
i seem to be moving away from puerh?!!!! it’s all ysaurella’s fault. all i want to drink now are french teas. sigh. as if this wasn’t an expensive habit before!
Thank you for reminding me I have a little tin of mate…uh…somewhere. Once I find it, I’ll try with cream and sugar.
I totally agree, my tastes are really changing too – things I used to think were great, now not so much – and starting to appreciate some that didn’t really do it for me. It’s fun to go back to a tea you haven’t had in awhile.
(memo to self – scribbles is on a black tea kick…..I have MOUNTAINS of black tea in my house)
As a pumpkin spice TISANE this is pretty good. But it’s not a tea. I saw no leaves. None. I’ve read other posts about this problem, but this is my first experience with the lack of leaf.
Not worth the expense.
I’m sorry to hear that! Especially since I have some of this coming to me in a teavana order which will hopefully be arriving tomorrow
The taste is ok, I was just disappointed in the lack of leaf. Hopefully your sample will have leaves :)
Hopefully mine won’t have that issue but I am glad to hear it still tasted alright regardless of the lack of leaf
I was so excited to try this blend – I thought it would be my favourite go-to flavour. Sadly, it is sorely lacking flavour. Am very disappointed.
Did you just try this from a sample or did you order and ounce or two? I ask, because even though it is a disappointment to you
(If you have leftovers ) I wouldn’t mind purchasing some from you.
I afore figs in cookies and this sounds so enchanting to me :-)
I drank too many dessert tea’s today (but too lazy to log all of them) and really needed something either salty or roasty to cut into all that sugar. This was the choice, and it was perfect – roasty with mineral notes.
I’ve been neglecting my oolongs since being on a black tea and dessert tea binge. I love oolong. I don’t know why I’m not drinking them up.
=0) glad you enjoyed my friend!
