A strong malty flavour verging on tar. Used a spoonful and drank it black after brewing with boiling water for 3 minutes. A tea that would best drank with milk and a little sugar possibly – Overpowering otherwise.

I bought this tea when I ran out of Ringtons classic 1907 blend – a favourite of mine. Sadly the tea came nowhere near my expectations of it being similar. That said it was a pleasant enough tea with a lingering after taste. Slightly astringent in the mouth. Best drank black and without sugar in my view – I think milk would overpower the flavours.

This tea reminds me of the tea i used to drink at my aunts many many years ago when I was quite young. Its exactly how it’s described by the blenders Ringtons – strong, dark and malty. I drink it without milk or sugar – as I do with all teas. One spoon full of tea to a pot is quite enough for drinking it “neat”. It has a deliciously long after taste. Hard to obtain sadly – mail order only unless you live in the North of England where they actually deliver it to your door.
