6444 Tasting Notes
In hopes of getting some sipdowns to rein in my cupboard just a bit before I get my BF orders, I decided to have this tea. After this cup, I have enough leaf left for just one more and though I am not too heartbroken, I might miss it every now and then. It is sweet and bread-y but not gingerbread. I could be completely off but I imagine this might be similar to what fruit cake tastes like – sweet, fruity, bread-y and with a very, VERY slight hint of spice. A nice treat for a relaxing evening.
Preparation
Well now that I have finished my exam and was finally able to go to the grocery store, I am celebrating having milk by having yet another glass of matcha! I wanted something creamy but not overly sweet and so I decided to go with peanut butter. It is smooth, creamy, nutty goodness and definitely hitting the spot as I package up some swaps :) Thank you Cavocorax!
I picked some of this up when it was 1/2 price on Red Tea Leaf’s website. The specifics of what I purchased are:
Flavor Level: Delicate
Size: Small (30g)
Grade: Classic (Basic Grade)
Type: Regular
Buy it here: http://www.redleaftea.com/matcha-tea/cookies-and-cream-matcha.html
I first tried this matcha when Cavocorax generously sent me a sample. From my very first sip, I knew that I wanted more of this flavor. Of course when I saw the matcha on sale for 50% off, I could not pass up the opportunity to buy some more. I also lucked out and was able to pick up some Bavarian Cream, a flavor I have wanted to try since discovering flavored matcha, at the same discount.
Anyways, when I opened the package, I was immediately in love with the smell. It has a very creamy scent with just a hint of the fudge-y chocolate cookie lingering in the mix. I was so excited to have a cup so I grabbed out my measuring spoon, my milk frother, and a glass. Of course I also needed my milk to make my drink complete.
I excitedly measured out 1/2 tsp of matcha and used my milk frother to combine it with 8 oz of cold milk, with just a hint of froth. I watched as the milk quickly took on a pale green color and released the decadent smell of cookies and cream.
Finally getting to drink my milky snack and I am definitely happy to announce that this is an oreo in a cup. It is amazingly creamy and that hint of chocolate cookie adds another level to the cup. Not to mention, it is matcha so it is definitely a guilt free treat. Yum!!
This was the first Kusmi tea I ever tried and so far it has been my favorite. I walked in and it was the tea sample of the day and after taking my first sip, I knew I needed to own a box. This tea is spicy and roast-y from the mate. It manages to balance the spices beautifully so that everything works together equally as opposed to once spice taking center stage. Moreover, apple helps to keep the spice in check and make this a smooth, pleasant cup. It is nothing extraordinary really but it does make for a good cup of tea. Unfortunately this has mellowed a bit with age and improper storage but tbh, it is holding up pretty well after 2-3 years.
Preparation
So lately I have been feeling a bit head cold-y (it’s that time of year) and so I decided what better time to try Cold 911 than now. As soon as I opened the bag, the peppermint and eucalyptus started to open up my sinuses. There is a very mild flavor to this tea (unless it is just my tastebuds right now) when compared to the smell of the dry leaf. Brewed that mintyness has gone away a little bit and in this case, I miss it. I am getting an unexpected sweetness and I am not sure where. Nonetheless, even though it is not as strong as I anticipated, it is not a bad cup.
Preparation
There seems to be some pretty harsh reviews on here. I found this tea to be light and fruity with a hint of pear. There is a slight chemical taste at the very end of the sip but I did not notice until I was looking for it. With that said, this tea is really nothing special but not offensive either. It was free and pleasant enough so no complaints here.
ETA: I let this cool a little bit and found the chemical taste. That was not a nice surprise at all. Perhaps this will be getting thrown into the swap box after all.

Thank you Roswell Strange for sharing this with me. I was trying to hoard it but between trying to get my cupboard sort of under control and craving something sweet and delicious, I just could not resist. This cup is liquid caramel and oh so tasty. Gold Rush, you will be missed but perhaps you will be back in my cupboard soon enough. There is just no other white tea like you :)
Preparation
I’ve already packaged up your teas for our most recent swap, but now I’m sorta regretting not tossing in some of the Mulberry White that RiverTea sent me, just as a comparison. This one really is delicious, though <3
haha it is definitely a tasty cup, especially for a white tea and Roswell Strange, perhaps it is for the best that I don’t find yet another tea company to order from – I don’t know how much more my wallet can take :P
Most chais have been huge misses for me because I often find them too overspiced with one spice or another. When I brewed this, the cocoa that was prominent in the bag was definitely being overpowered by the smell of the spices. That made me worried. However, with my first sip, my fear subsided because this is one chocolate-y tea – more a fudgey, baked-good type chocolate than a milky, smooth chocolate bar. Of course, there is also a nice spice to this cup to really round out the flavors. All in all a nice chai.
