Made this as a latte but I really wanted to use Candy Cane Crush but didn’t have enough leaf. As a result, this is good but not exactly what I hoped since this is more medicinal mint than CCC.

When organizing my spreadsheet and tea cupboard, I realized I still had a fair number of teas from 2019 so when I couldn’t decide what to drink today, it seemed like a good idea to take one of these older teas. As none of the flavoured ones spoke to me today, I grabbed this. It’s rainy and this suits that pretty well. It’s not floral but rather more full and is giving me malt and baked good vibes. Are those supposed to be there? Are my tastebuds off because I’m still not 100%? Could be either but I’m here for it regardless! Thanks for sharing, Roswell Strange!

Westholme describes this as “accessible”, which I can see since it’s smooth and fairly easy to drink. It doesn’t stand out as particularly good – brisk, slightly toasted, a sort of classic tea profile that I associate with Tetley teabags. I would expect more from names like “Royal” and “golden” but for me, this is just fine. Fun to try so thanks for sharing Sil!

drank Banana Pudding Black Tea by 52teas

My family made banana pudding so it made sense to pull this out. However, I have a bit of a cold and I know I’m not 100% because while our banana pudding was super flavourful, this is coconut-y and not much else. I know that’s not a proper reflection of this tea so that means my cold lingers :(

Iced Tea with Strawberry Sweet Cream Cold Foam Sipdown (228)

This is my last weekend before I start my job and my sister thinks I’m nesting because I’ve been cleaning and doing a bunch of organizing. Today I tackled my tea spreadsheet and drawers which I haven’t maintained the past few months and as a result have no clue what is happening with my teams. Now I just need to cross reference my steepster cupboard with my spreadsheet and both my online cupboard and spreadsheet will be up-to-date.

As a result of this organizing, I looked into the Nerdfelt teas I still have left from my advent. This was just rooibos and cocoa nibs so I thought it would make a good iced latte with cold foam. Strawberry seemed like it may pair well but it’s a touch artificial and the rooibos and nibs and making for a syrup/alcohol vibe. Honestly it makes me think of the cherry and syrup filled chocolates you get around Christmas. The very much not good chocolates. Oh well lol

Sil

go you! I’ve been missing good flavoured teas… sigh

VariaTEA

lol I wouldn’t call this a “good flavoured tea”

Made this as a latte with toasted marshmallow syrup and while I think the Alfajores and salted caramel was the better of the two I had today, this was sooo good. Thank you Roswell Strange for the combo suggestion! It was delicious and fall and comfy and warm and sweet and great!

I have decided to adapt my cold foam recipe for a latte topper as the cooler weather will be here soon enough. Basically I take 2 tbsps each of flavour syrup (salted caramel for this) and milk and then fill the frother to the line with whipping cream. Added that to this steeped tea and it was so caramel-y and rich. Honestly soooo good!!

drank Blueberry Acai by Tea Drops

Sipdown (212)

Actually I dumped this. It’s too sweet and doesn’t taste like blueberry or açai. Just sugar. Not a fan so down the drain it went. Much like the other Tea Drops I had.

My cupboard has grown exponentially since joining this site and I have a lot to share. Feel free to snoop through my cupboard and message me if anything interests you – I am always happy to swap!

For me, flavored teas are definitely my sweet spot. I will most often reach for black teas and rooibos or honeybush blends but I do keep some flavored whites and greens around for when the mood strikes. I have a few herbals/tisanes but most of the time I find myself disappointed by them as they often smell deliciously sweet and then end up tasting tart/sour. I have a little bit of an aversion to pu’erh and oolong teas. I am also wary of florals, earl greys, and chai teas. I do not like overpowering citrus flavors nor do I usually like hibiscus, licorice or chamomile. I love dessert teas – caramel, vanilla, toffee, cookie, cream, and other sweet flavors make me smile. Fruits like strawberry, peach, mango, and pineapples will often catch my attention as well.

I have also realized that although I really enjoy adding frothed milk to some of my teas, if I do not like the tea with zero additives (just in plain water without milk or sugar), I probably won’t drink it. The one exception is flavored matchas which I will happily drink in cold milk if I do not like it mixed with hot water. My theory is if the tea can’t stand on its own then it is not for me and I will more than likely try to swap it out for something else.

Tea Ratings Guide (as of December 10, 2017)
90-100 Teas I NEED on hand at all times
80-89 Teas I want to keep around for a cup every now and then
70-79 Teas I am glad I have around and can experiment with but probably don’t need more than what’s in my cupboard
60-69 Teas I would not turn down a cup of from a friend but that would probably be enough
50-59 Teas I can see why someone would enjoy but are not for me
Under 50 Teas I really did not like and most likely got dumped
