Flavor: Wet leaf smell is super skunky. I honestly can’t remember much of the flavor because the Qi was so awesome. It is similar to 2012 mu shu cha but that has more flavor nuance whereas this has more energy with a little less relaxation.

Qi: Tons of energy but also very relaxing. It makes even the most strenuous hike seem effortless.

Being a complete qi lightweight I was REALLY looking forward to trying this one. But I felt nothing. I need to revisit although part of the problem is that I like to drink tea first thing in the morning on an empty stomach but I didn’t want to do that with this one and be out of it for the day.

I steeped about 15-20 times to make sure I wasn’t missing something.

Taste: I guess no-one drinks this for the taste. All I got was old books :(

Awww I was interested in trying this for the tea high too. I appreciate your honesty. I bet I’d have similar results as you.

Babble

Yep. I’m underwhelmed with this tea too. Did you get your sample from the Puerh+ box too? Maybe it’s the sample.

Whoops, didn’t see this ! Bummer. No, my sample was purchased from W2T. I need to retest this one (and Last Thoughts and If you are reading this…) to make sure I get nothing although I DID feel something from If You Are Reading This… and considering buying a cake (if I can replicate it next brewing)!

I’m surprised this only has one review.

Flavor: First few steeps are vegetal like a v mild sencha. From steeps 4 onward the vegetal softens and is replaced with slight flower bitterness and astringency that pleasantly turns to stone fruit and by 6-7 steeps has added a lemony note. There’s cooling in the mouth and throat and an awareness of breathing. My mouth tastes of peaches or apricots for 10 min after a sip. Wet leaf smells a bit pleasantly skunky, gaiwan lid is flowery and a little tropical fruit.

Qi: Invigorating but very relaxing and reflective. Perfect for meditation. It’s rare for me to find puer that energizes me without agitating.

Flavors: Floral, Lemon, Stonefruit, Vegetal

drank Pu Erh Dante by Adagio Teas

This was my first puer…it really opened my eyes and sent me off on a wonderful journey through shou and sheng. I don’t really care for the taste, it isn’t bad but I certainly don’t crave shou like I do a young sheng with stone fruit aftertaste. On taste I’d say it’s a 65.

I feel a little ridiculous talking about qi on an Adagio tea but this tea has the best energy !!! Unlike other puers (mostly sheng) where I get different qi on different days, Dante has a repeatable and reliable amazing tea energy. It’s perfect for morning hikes; energizing, uplifting (mood), relaxing all at the same time and it makes me ridiculously chatty and outgoing. I am very sensitive to qi (2g dosage) but this one is strong. Since Dante, I’ve tried approx 20 other sheng and shou with some having interesting qi but none matching up to this one. I must just be odd since no-one else has commented on this. More for me :)

I’ve served it to a couple of other people with all but one agreeing it made them feel ways that their regular black tea habit did not. I did bump one of them up to 3.5g at which point they said that they were glad I was doing the driving :)

I just bought a pound of this little bag of happiness.

Hey man, drink what you like. You don’t have to defend yourself! I may add this one to the list, too to check out. I probably would have overlooked an Adagio Puerh had you not said anything :)

Thanks Babble :) I’d suggest you hold off on the Dante, I had a couple of sessions with the new bag and it doesn’t have the same effects unfortunately :( I’ll let you know if I come across something else with great Qi

Babble

Aww that’s a bummer. Well thanks for the heads up. Yes definitely keep me posted. I’m forever searching for that “tea high” haha..
