drank Mango Fruit Punch by DAVIDsTEA

mango mango mango! high hopes for this one, folks…

hmm, oddly tart. probably the citrus fruits in there. it truly does taste like a fruit punch, with kind of an artificial aftertaste though.
i’d try it iced, but not as a hot tea again.
it is something different though, i can see what they were going for and it will definitely work on ice.

drank Pink Passionfruit by DAVIDsTEA

this one scares me as a hot tea – it’s sooo dark pink. i’m afraid the hibiscus might kill it, but let’s dive in!

the smell is sweet, but a touch artificial. definitely tart, but not that sickening lingering kind that sticks on your tongue and won’t let go. interesting!
i don’t know though, up front it’s just all a bit too much. this will probably be killer on ice with some sweetener, but it’s not going to double up as a hot tea for me, unfortunately.

drank Mint Julep by DAVIDsTEA

after seeing my actual sample of this, i’d say it is a rooibos before a black tea, which is honestly a little off-putting – i’m not really a fan of rooibos and i can’t imagine rooibos + black + mint being good. but… we’ll see.

i suppose the rooibos is in there to add a touch of natural sweetness, as it DOES smell minty and sweet. surprisingly it’s not overpowering on the first sip. i don’t know that i’d like this one iced – minty iced teas just don’t do it for me, but as a hot tea, it is quite refreshing. the mint lingers and the black tea sort of bullies out the rooibos until the end where there’s just a hint of lingering sweetness.
dang! another winner!! this is going to be an expensive summer for teas! hahah

drank Coconut Grove by DAVIDsTEA

mmm, this one smells and tastes surprisingly coconutty despite the small amount of actual coconut flakes in the sample i got, but that must be all in the wonder of flavouring!
if you like coconut though, it is really… REALLY good! which is damn unfortunate because it’s a lovely (expensive!) white tea.
mmm… maybe just a special occasion tea?
i honestly can’t say anything else – it’s a just a lovely white tea base with a knockout coconut flavour on top, really good!

drank Kokomo Green by DAVIDsTEA

summer tea tasting day! very exciting.

first off, ALL of these teas look beautiful and just smell delicious. anyway, on to the specifics!

this one smells really fruity, even after it has been steeped, which is always nice.
it’s probably the passion fruit flavouring that comes out first, then a nice wave of supportive green tea with mango lingering on the tongue.
i feel like after so many “mango and green tea” variations, DAVIDs has finally come up with this one that’s just a touch more complex, more layers making this a standout tea.
i can see the fruit flavours really coming alive once iced and hit with a bit of sweetener.
i wasn’t expecting to love this one, but i’d keep it on hand to have hot OR iced throughout the summer. nice one!!

drank Coco-Lemon Thai by DAVIDsTEA
132 tasting notes

coconut and lemon – i wish i could smell like this tea! (hey davids – a line of tea-themed fragrances??!)

once steeped, it’s a little perfumey with the sweetness of the coconut creating a heavy base, but the lemon really lifts it back up. makes me want to bake a lemon laced coconut cake! mmmm…

i’d say this is almost an herbal with the amount of lemongrass in there, and in that case would benefit from a longer steep than my standard white tea go-to (2 min. @ 185F). still, the coconut lingers on the tongue with all that refreshing lemon up front – really nice!
i’ll definitely be getting some more before the spring collection is gone :)

POW that’s ginger!
i can appreciate this bad boy for the herbal qualities, no caffeine to keep me awake when i have a sore throat! yay david!
luckily, i love ginger. if you don’t love ginger, don’t bother with this one. if you don’t MIND ginger, you will learn to love it ;) so cozy yet zingy, with just that hint of heat. awesome.

i couldn’t choose a favourite kind of tea, though i enjoy greens and black teas the most. sweet fruit, citrus, or spicy warm flavours score high with me. i’m a believer in medicinal teas and am always looking to learn more and try new teas
