1220 Tasting Notes

FINALLY I’m pretty sure I’ve been trying to post this for ten hours. I had this on Thursday but I haven’t been on here for whatever reason I don’t even know.

I do have an entire pouch of this but this is from the 11th day of the 12 teas of Christmas – I am almost done with that yeah! Just have to write the note for the 12th day. And sorry 10th day. I messed up that tea badly it’s not even noteworthy because I did it no justice.

So this is an interesting combination and I definitely liked it, good to know when I finally break open the bag of mine that I will like it. The assam isn’t too powerful because you can still get the fruit and a little vanilla.

I’m not sure how I steeped it because it turned out just fine. I didn’t get to drink it right away because I had a smoke detector beeping fun time. Apparently cooking things at 450 degrees is a problem. Blah. Usually I struggle with keeping Adagio stuff from going bitter so that was good. I know I rarely take my kettle off the 200 degree setting so I know that much!

9th tea of Christmas! Not too many left…could I finish them today? Maybe. I need to get to cleaning more again. Oh dishes. Dishes need to be done but I need a new package of sponges. Sigh.

So I was worried about this because of the oversteeping comment too, I already have an awful time with Adagio black teas so the gunpowder in here along with that had me a bit more concerned than usual, but it worked! I think I steeped it at 190 too just in case.

I liked this a lot more than I thought I would. It was pretty hearty, with just a little smoke and a good bit of spice. Nothing too strong and overpowering, it all worked really well together.

This is definitely not a tea I would ever have found on my own, so that’s awesome. Not that I might drink it again after I finish what I have from the swap, but it’s nice to know that some people out there can do such an amazing job making up blends on Adagio’s site.

drank Milky Oolong by Tea Desire

8th tea of Christmas!

This was interesting because it’s not really like a milk oolong, it’s more like a dulce de leche oolong. Not really milky, but kind of sweet more in the sense of condensed milk and caramelly. I really liked it though.

I wonder how much it costs to ship here, because the taste of this is exactly what I have always wanted, but as salted caramel. I feel like this has the caramel flavor I want although I haven’t ever bothered to actually taste many other caramel oolongs. But this is so good why would I want to? Not sure if I used it all for my cup though. I have tea everywhere right now.

I’m glad you liked it!

Seven swans a swimming tea! Usually I am not a big Ceylon fan but I knew if I underleafed and made sure to pay attention to how long I was steeping and it turned out well.

It has a very thick mouthfeel which is kind of hard to get used to for a first cup of the day (ugh 4pm already? haven’t felt good all day thanks temperature bouncing). It’s somewhat brisk but not bitter, so I’d say it’s malty with just the right amount of sweetness.

btw I’m going through my tea again so I’ll be selling tea yet again. I need to stop buying in general but my discount needs to stop working at Teavana for that to happen. It’s also involving tossing a lot that I think can’t possibly be good anymore which is really sad. No more buying. Yesterday was the last day of buying, says the person who bought almost 2 pounds of tea UGH.

Discounts make buying so tempting! :-)

momo

yeah, if only they allowed employee discounts on top of the sale discounts I would have probably ended up with more. Somehow at Starbucks itself this only meant I bought two cocoa kits and one was a gift anyway but had we had more stuff on clearance, it wouldn’t have been pretty…I think it worked out to a 65% discount

caile

lol! Probably good they don’t give the employee discount too then, but that is a good savings regardless! Crazy to resist! ;-)

This was one of the Kickstarter created teas for SBT, so I added at least the tea and when Frank gets caught up on everything I’m sure he’ll be adding all of them with proper pictures and the like, and adding them to the site, which is when you will need to buy this flavor. It officially comes in behind Rainbow Sherbet for me. Really.

And that is why I had to post about it now, not whenever. I mean, I was drinking this iced even though it is so cold out.

I added some sugar as it steeped because I tend to like to with orange just in case it gets bitter, so I think that helped also boost creaminess too. My favorite thing about SBTs is that you get the flavor but it doesn’t overwhelm the tea itself, so it’s the best of both worlds. I think I drank this one in like 3 days whereas whatever had last been in the pitcher had been sitting too long to still be good.

Once I go through a lot more of these I definitely want to stock up on this one! Since I got the 12 Teas of Christmas I don’t want to order more just yet at all.

ahh I don’t remember who sent this because I pushed it aside from the other 12 days stuff: if someone could remind me that’d be awesome because I LOVE this.

Reading the description, I was thinking apple pie but it’s more like apple cider. In fact I think I am going to bring home steamed apple juice from work and add some to a stronger steeped cup of this…that sounds like it’d be fantastic.

I’m glad to have finally found a spiced apple tea that isn’t disgusting. While I have a ton of Mom’s Apple Pie, that one has more pastry notes to it than this one does plus I think the difference in a black base vs a green base makes this one more my style for a cider-y type.

Now to write a couple iced tea related notes and I am all caught up, haha.

I think I singlehandedly drink the most of this at work. For the past week I feel like I’ve had some every morning I’m there. And if people can’t pick a tea I am like oh then you need to have this one.

And the worst part is today I realized I don’t even own it, so of course I buy half a pound. Now maybe I will drink it at a time that makes more sense, I feel there’s something silly about drinking chamomile at 6am when I need to really perk the heck up and not take a chill pill.

btw I like to also mix it with Youthberry, you should stick to doing this at Starbucks or w/your own tea though because it’s good but not $5 a cup good. I don’t know what it is about this tea, but it’s just like the right level of floral and fruit for me. Doesn’t need to be sweetened, and sometimes I just want to eat the pineapple before I even steep it. Shh.

drank Tangerine Blossom by Shang Tea

Apparently this is on my shopping list, so I must have seen it mentioned before and wanted to try it. Huh. I had no idea so that makes it even better to have now!

Definitely an interesting tea, it does not have the delicate flavor of a white tea at all, but still has some of the floral notes, thanks to the blossoms. I really liked it even better when it cooled off entirely, which of course doesn’t take long today.

The sweet citrus flavor is really nice without being strongly fruity, it’s pretty amazing. I’m glad I finally got to try this even if I had no idea I really wanted to!

drank Blu Blanc by Blackbird Tea Co.

I love blueberry flavored teas, blueberry whites definitely take the cake, and this one takes the biggest cake ever, really.

It’s not too strong, and it tastes like actual blueberries rather than being really artificial. There were quite a few blueberries in there too.

Again, another sample where I used the whole thing and I would love to have some more! But I definitely, definitely do not need more tea.
