drank Raspberry Banana Honeybush by 52teas
1220 tasting notes

Ok I got distracted because I had to make this hummus: http://www.cookincanuck.com/2012/11/creamy-curry-hummus-recipe-healthy-snack/ Hummus is way too terrifyingly easy to make especially now that I know I can get a jar of tahini for a more reasonable $6. (This one does not include any tahini which is why I like it.)

Still lukewarm, this is great. Mostly banana, still enough raspberry. I actually think I may like it better cold, I’ll have to give it a try. It seems like as it cools off, it gets creamier.

All around it’s a nice sweet drink.

Looks delicious! I should learn how to make my own hummus- I eat enough of it

Yes! It’s so easy, the most expensive thing you’ll need is tahini but there are plenty of recipes that don’t use it, though it’s probably a good thing for a more authentic hummus. Just a can of chickpeas, some olive oil, whatever spices and throw it all in a food processor!

My favorite hummus recipe is a Weight Watchers one that uses plain yogurt, chickpeas, olive oil/lemon/spices as usual. Tahini optional, but I never use it. It’s so good!

That sounds amazing! I hadn’t realized that hummus was such an easy and cheap recipe. :)

Kittenna, what proportions do you use for this? I would like to try this! If you get a chance, can you post or pm me the recipe?

I’ll PM it to you so as not to be too spammy here :)

drank Pineapple Oolong by Lupicia
1220 tasting notes

Another one from last night, this is most excellent.

Sebastian is now chatting his little beak off and omg it’s so cute, I guess he’s trying to sing along to Adele.

Ok, this is pretty light, kind of floral, and deliciously pineapple. It’s not strong at all though, I’d take Butiki’s Flowery Pineapple over it (still have DavidsTea’s to try). It only appears at the end but it tastes so good anyway, I just wish there was a bit more.

The oolong is nice though. It does have a bit of that milk oolong smell to it, very orchidy too.

I’d like to try it iced when it’s not being 39 outside.

Hesper June

Maybe he smells the pineapples and it makes him long for the tropics:)
This tea sounds tasty and perfect for bringing a bit of warm beachy-ness to the middle of winter.

LOL…it’s about 10 degrees here, so would love it if it were 39 degrees here.

drank Caramel Cheesecake Black Tea by 52teas
1220 tasting notes

Really not in a good mood at all…this is from last night as Steepster was not working. Missed my alarm because my phone’s charger port area is messed up and I only now found out it is common on this phone, it’s 2 months out of warranty so if I want something I can trust to charge, I am on my own. It’s definitely not the battery because it holds the charge just fine when I can get one, I am almost tempted to say it’s the cord and get a new one of those first because I tried my car charger and it was fine. Ugh so I’ve been so upset/irritated/annoyed I can’t even be bothered.

Otherwise I just packed up a $92 textbook for Amazon credit and a warehouse deal phone it is.

And then there’s the fact I still don’t have my loan refund from my school. Supposedly they release the funds today but I would REALLY like to have my money already. Nothing like paying interest yourself on money that gets held hostage.

Ok tea.
I still can’t really taste cheesecake in here. Definitely get caramel though.

Guess I’ll try some agave in it next time.

Momo, I have a TMobile Mytouch Q and have gone through two faulty cords in less than a year. Since chargers can be so inexpensive, and you can get your car charger to work, do try the new cord first?

Hesper June

I hope your day gets better!

I am, my boyfriend now tells me that he has lots of chargers…this has been going on since Thursday and I had told him that day it was being a monster. Getting away from it for about an hour was nice, I do feel better now!

Having a phone that doesn’t work right really does bring down your day. I hope you’re able to fix it soon. *Hugs!

drank Gingerbread Chai by 52teas
1220 tasting notes

Stovetop preparation: 6 oz water, 6 oz milk, 2 tsp tea, a spoonful of honey.

I am tempted to take the cardamom out of here to use on my sweet potatoes later. I went to the store and found they want $11 for a jar of cardamom LOL Instead I’m gonna do curry powder. Anyway, yeah, I just realized I should have gone to the Penzey’s up the street.

I almost feel like I put too much honey in here. But that’s okay, it definitely tastes like a gingerbread cookie!

I used to hate getting 52teas Chais because I never really understood how to make it right…stovetop is the way.

Thanks JoonSusanna!

Terri HarpLady

I love sweet potatoes! I eat mine with a heavy dusting (way too heavy to be called a dusting, actually) of cinnamon. I eat one almost every day! Sometimes 2…

Daisy Chubb

I just bought 3 sweet potatoes today and have no idea how to cook them! Any tips/recipes from you ladies? Stovetop? Baked?

The recipe for the soup starts out with baking chunks of sweet potato for 20 minutes in a 400 degree oven, I think if you kept them whole it’d be double the time. I’m going to use this for the next round of sweet potatoes I get from my box too and make lettuce wraps. I think 20 minutes is also a good bit of time for boiling them on the stove.

Daisy Chubb

Jealous of your box – all the CSAs in the area here are filled up – not taking any new custies! :B
Thank you! mmm sweet potato soup!

Awww booo. This one is with a farm based in Alabama, but most of their drop offs are in Atlanta and one is just down the street which is PERFECT. They get stuff from farms in a couple other states too which I am thankful for BECAUSE ORANGES.

“…I just realized I should have gone to the Penzey’s up the street.” This made me weep. I have to drive a hour and a half to get to Penzey’s! You lucky duck!

The worst part is I always forget it’s there, but I think I’ve subconsciously done so in order to not buy the entire store. It’s in a shopping center of wallet drainers too.

I am going to have to try this chai this way! I just made “turmeric milk” last week – a spice, honey, and rice milk mixture that’s good for sore throats/earaches. Really, that was no different than making stovetop chai I think (except the lack of tea!).

Yay! Glad you liked it!

drank Holiday Cheer by Della Terra Teas
1220 tasting notes

Writing this from a cup last night! For some reason I was craving something like this and I figured I should try it.

It was right before bed and so I really didn’t want to sweeten it, but I should have. As it cooled the hibiscus and cranberry both did a good job of tarting it up.

It reminds me of spiced wine. I’ve never had spiced wine but I imagine it to taste like this. Maybe a spiced punch makes more sense?

Anyway it’s mostly tart, with notes of spices and I want to try it iced. Or steeped in cider.

Trying this western style~
This has a really unique fruity sweetness to it, now that I see the description on here it is SO totally banana.

Mostly though it is sweet and vegetal, I said green beans before but it’s more like some other fresh bean…soy? Maybe. Just a bit of a mineral note in there too.

Now I just need to try it properly in a gaiwan since I see last time I used the shaker that is supposed to act like one but really is the saddest thing I ever bought.

drank Mi Lan Dancong Black by Verdant Tea
1220 tasting notes

I was told to try this with 1/2 tsp of leaf and steeped for 7 minutes.

Had to try it! It is pretty light, but it’s suuuuuuuper sweet, like honey water or something. It cooled a bit and started to have this end note of spearmint.

Prefer it in the gaiwan though, that avocado taste is the best thing ever.

Fascinating! I think I have enough of this to try this method.

drank Golden Mojito by Teavana
1220 tasting notes

writing the first note on this…huh

I’ve had this a couple times now, iced, but today I was curious to see how it’d be hot. It’s not bad at all, I might actually like it better this way.

This is strongly citrusy, mostly lime, and then there’s hints of pineapple. It’s got the right amount of mint. Only thing I don’t like is that it seems oddly thick.

It’s just a bummer it’s soooo expensive because I like it way better than the other mojito tea I have, which I believe is also a white tea.

I’m sad this one is so costly because I’ve always wanted to try it.

Too much tripel…there is such a thing.

Stomach hurts. Head’s ok. STOMACH HURTS (but that’s also thanks to other monthly events thanks so much body! u rule) and I am so thankful for Reasoned_Melody sending me some of this.

It is pretty bitter but a cup of this and a great big nap later, all I’ve got is a giant headache and I know that’s just from being dehydrated. YAY.

I’d like to try Detox now too I think, sounds more up my alley.

On the plus side I bet the bitter orange peel taste goes away if you sweeten it a little but I just wanted to stop being nauseous so badly. And it’s not like some other ~medicinal types where it tastes like a spice cabinet.

drank Momo Oolong Super Grade by Lupicia
1220 tasting notes

Welp, officially I have had enough peach tea for now.

I was really excited for this one. It smells great, it looks pretty.

I don’t really care for this…I far preferred black tea Momo. It started out great, but as it cooled it just became far too subtle. I mean like barely that cool, it started to just taste like pouchong. Nothing wrong with pouchong but it’s not juicy peaches.

I have higher hopes for Momoko being more to my liking.
