Small specialised tea shop in Portugalete bordering Santurce. Has a decent offer of loose leaf teas, especially of aromatized blends.

We had a wonderful full afternoon tea here last Saturday. When reserving it, we had been asked for possible food allergies (none in our case), because they take care in preparing the sandwiches and cakes in the 3 tiered cake stand we were presented with. Tea can be chosen from almost 30 different loose tea varieties, and is served in a – Villeroy & Boch – tea pot. Three types of finger sandwiches, 2 types of cake and delicious home made scones with clotted cream and jam…fortunately, we didn´t have lunch before, because it was huge, and very nice. The teas we had picked (white peony and dong ding oolong) were light teas which worked perfectly for us. Another thing we really appreciated : our table was laid with a nice white table cloth, which brings the afternoon tea to a definite high standard. Service was very warm and knowledgable.

Heaven for tea lovers : to drink a cup in the tea shop or to shop around for tea. Especially large fruited tea selection, but tea is picked and blended in house (Southsea Grey for instance), and there are “local” teas available which have been optimised for the tap water in the specific places in Hampshire. Service very friendly and prices reasonable.

Profile

Bio

Introduced to tea by my sister-in-law in my country of birth = Belgium more than 30 years ago, I still love tea, mainly black, which I enjoy without sugar or milk. Having lived in UK, near good tea shops (e.g. Betty´s all over Yorkshire), I tend to buy most of my tea in bulk from tea shops (as such, most of these are not represented in my on-line cupboard). Nowadays, I live in Spain where tea gives me another sensatory bliss (as wine or beer or coffee can give me too).
