The flavor of this tea is dominated by the Keemun. It’s basically Keemun with a little extra tannin for good measure. I’m not in a hurry to order this again, as much as I do like Keemun.

I enjoyed this one a while back. It is just about the maltiest tea I have ever had. Other Assams might be stronger in various ways, but for pure malt flavor, this is the one. Good black as a coffee replacement or the traditional Friesian way with cream and rock sugar.

Typical African CTC: lots of depth with notes of apple and wheat, I would say. Perhaps this makes it “malty,” but not in the Assam sense. I find that Kenyan CTC and Orthodox teas are very different from one another, and the CTC teas are undervalued and harder to find. I recommend this one, though I think I have had even better in the past.
