513 Tasting Notes
As an afterthought, this was the tea bag that just did not quit. I brewed my sample bag a friend had given me, shared it with the boyfriend, and went out for supper with a friend. When I walked back in I saw the tea steeping on the counter again. I asked if he was trying to steep it again (as I am really not generally fond of second steep cups) and he admitted this was the fourth steep! Dubiously, I gave it a shot and he was right, the flavour was holding up brilliantly. It wasn’t quite as bright a flavour as the first cup had been but, given the cup we were on, I think I can lower my flavour expectations just a pinch. Very impressed with this tea, one of my definite favourites hot!
Second time drinking this tea iced and I was amazed at how much I loved it. I think I got a little bit sidetracked by my love affair with Tropicalia, but this was an excellent change of pace. Sour, but not bitter or even really tart – it reminded me of drinking limeade. I didn’t sweeten it this time, I think I did the first time I tried it, but it turns out it really doesn’t need any extra sweetening! I managed to run through my timolino in the space of an afternoon and I now have it in for a second steep. Really refreshing and super enjoyable, I could see myself stocking this one permanently.
Preparation
Can one fall in love with a tea by scent alone? It turns out you can! I smelled this at my friend’s place and begged her for tea bags to try. The minute I put this in to steep I knew I had a winner. A pinch of agave to bring out the chocolate and it was comfort food in a cup. Mint, chocolate, and a lovely overall sweet vanilla taste. Having had to share my mug with my boyfriend the minute he came in and smelled what I was drinking, I think it is safe to say this is yet another winner. (As a note, they was a tiny bit of oil film on the top, but nothing too distracting.)
I tried this at a friend’s place and was absolutely blown away. I was really iffy about trying a rooibos tea, but I am so glad I took the plunge. It smelled like cupcakes, tasted like cupcakes and totally fulfilled my sweets craving! I did find it needed a bit of sweetening, but one it had just a touch of sugar it was fantastic! This will be finding a permanent home in my cupboard!!
When I first smelled this blend I really wasn’t sure. The smell was really strongly sweet and seemed a little artificial. Thus, I stupidly put off trying it for a bit, my mistake! Cold steeped, over ice, I love this tea!! It is the perfect refreshing summer treat and a tea I could see myself drinking iced year round. It is naturally sweet enough that I didn’t even have to add honey or agave and it steeped relatively quickly with a strong flavour. Even my friend who is not a tea drinker had to admit that it had a lovely flavour. I will certainly be picking up much more of this the next time I am in store!!
Preparation
I just brewed up an only sample of this that we had kicking around and, for once, I have to admit it really was not for me. I found the spicy, herbal taste strange brewed as an iced tea and even when I tried it brewed hot I just didn’t love the flavour notes. That being said, the tea brewed quickly with a good strong flavour, just not for me.
I cold brewed this tea for a couple of hours before giving it a shot. It was honestly not what I was expecting, given the aroma of the leaves, but it was a nice tea to try iced. I tasted a lot more of the green tea than I had been expecting and not a lot of kiwi, but I did find it really refreshing. I am not sure if it is one I would stock permanently or not, definitely a tea I will need to try a few times more before making any firm decisions on.
Preparation
I tried this tea cold steeped and honestly I am not in love. I adored the smell out of the packet, but I was surprised at just how little 50 grams of the tea was compared to other blends. Because of the sized of the pieces, I found it hard to work out exactly how much I should put in my infuser (I might have put too few fruit pieces in). After cold steeping for a few hours I found that I still really liked the aroma of the blend, but there was a definite bitter aftertaste that I did not care for. I am going to give this tea another shot brewing it hot, but, for now, I am not a fan.
**Edit – Cold steeped again, for a much shorter time (about an hour). I also made sure I had different types of fruit in my infuser from the dry mix. Taste was MUCH improved. No bitterness, much more fruit flavour, now I am tempted to buy a larger pack of this!! I understand the popularity and am changing my rating accordingly!
Preparation
I have had a pitcher of this cold steeping in the fridge all day. The longer it sits, the more I like it. The cold berry taste is really refreshing over ice. I am trying this current batch unsweetened, but I did prefer the last batch, which I had sweetened with a bit of honey.
