227 Tasting Notes
First I gotta say that my sample didn’t have this Yongchun word on the package so it was packed in red package and called Fo Shou (Bergamot) Oolong. But i’m logging it under this one…
Dry leaves smell great. Very fresh grassy. And sweet. I know weird. But it smells sweet to me :D Must be the bergamot…
Wasn’t sure how log to steep this one so I did 1 minute. Looks bright. Should have steeped it longer :) Putting the infusion back in… Two more minutes on lower temperature.
Looks green-yellow. Smells gentle. Grassy.
It’s very gentle. Smooth. Quite watery but not in a bad way. Refreshing. I can’t taste the bergamot. It’s like a very very subtle oolong. And I like this one too.
Preparation
This looks unusual. Roast green. However, leaves look darker – very dark green. But the smell is grassy. Like dry grass. Roast green – yeah smells exactly like that :)
I’m leaving the water to chill for few minutes. And I’ll go with a short first steep.
Smells like yummy green yunnan. Yellow color.
Mmmm that nutty scent that my favorite silver needle has. I love that in tea. It’s like quality green tea mixed with white silver needle to me :) Which is awesome. If it had a bit more round, maybe slightly sweeter taste it would be perfect. But I still like it a lot! Fresh, smooth, very drinkable and with a nutty note :)
Preparation
Mmmmm I love it how the leaves smell. Really fresh. It’s like being on a mountain that smells of green tea and fruit :D
Hope it will taste like this too.
One minute steep, the color is very light yellow-greenish. Smells like oolong, grassy.
The taste is very full and smooth. I’m surprised with such a short steep. This is a yummy one. I love the grassy scent that it leaves behind. And it has a slightly sourish note somewhere in my mouth. But barely.
Refreshing and yummy. I’d drink this one again.
Preparation
I didn’t write any tea reviews in ages :D
Here’s one of the tester Golden Moon packages that I found in my office drawer.
I think I never tried pu-ehr in leaves like this, I always drank the one that came pressed in little balls. And it was always quite weird. So I’m looking forward to this one!
The package smells more like chai than pu-ehr :D
OK in hot water it smells more like pu-ehr, I can barely smell chai :) I don’t think I’ll ever get used to this smell. It’s quite nasty animal-poo-like smell ;)
But, oh well, let’s give it a try…
OK, it’s actually quite tasty. The aggressive pu-ehr goes along quite well with aromatic chai. I can taste both in this blend. And it’s quite even…
The tea itself is really dark colored – like pu-ehr’s. It’s kinda sourish. I’m lacking sweetness. Unfortunately I don’t have any milk here. I think this one could be fabulous with milk and honey. Pretty sure of that.
But all together I’m quite satisfied with this tea. It might be the pu-ehr I liked most till now. 7-8/10-ish
Preparation
Got this one as a present from France. It has a very strong tropical fruit perfume. Color of it is quite yellow.
It’s not as sweet as i have expected. And thats not bad actually. Makes it more easy to taste sencha. It is kind of watery tho. I’d like it to be more smooth. Perhaps a longer steep would make that happen.
An average fruit scented green tea…
Preparation
Mmmmm very rich with aromas. Nice smell of quality black tea…
Not sure how to describe it. Can taste like honey and there’s a bit of that earthy plus hay like taste that puehrs have. Quite mild and very very tasty…
Even the colour is more dark brown than red. Excellent black leaning onto puehr…
Yumm
Preparation
Stole teabag samplers from a hotel. Shhhhh ;)
This is a very gentle black tea. Quite subtle and tastes really good. Twinings does really good bagged black tea (i love english breakfast and am quite fond of their earl gray). This one is like a really gentle version of English breakfast. It’s even lighter colored. I’d say a perfect afternoon black tea. Would buy it…
Preparation
This tea both smells and tastes ama……… wait for it ;) ….. zzzzzing!
The nice smell of candid exotic fruit filled the whole office. Hope the colleges aren’t hungry ;) I was really hoping the taste wont disappoint me. And it didn’t. This tea is sweet and delicious. Really really yummy rooibos. Definitely my favourite to this point!
Btw I steeped it longer (forgot about it) and I assume that made it even sweeter and stronger on the fruit. Didn’t mind either ;) Oh and the lady in the shop gave this sampler to me for free which was really nice of her. Not to mention yummy :) I vote for them to start selling sampler sets.
Sweet Little Fruit ftw!
Preparation
Color of the tea is as rooibos should be. Dark orange. Smells nice – mostly of orange and orange peel.
Mmmmm tastes nice too. Quite refreshing. Orange flavour is just strong enough to blend in nice.
Bit of honey would make it great I think. Or adding something like caramel or vanilla to the blend. Still very drinkable refreshing rooibos tea. I’m just missing a bit of sweetness in this one. Not that I generally like my teas sweetened, this one is just asking for it. I still think it’s better for them to let the buyers sweeten the tea if they want to than for them to blend it in the tea. So thumbs up for this one…
Btw it leaves a very nice orange aftertaste. This could be my favourite rooibos so far…
