I just woke up so probably won’t write a long review.

1st sip of this tea was very metallic and salty with a background of mango and vegetal. Ok, I let it cool down and the metallic taste isn’t as prominent thank the gods. But still not good.

Oooooh yeah. That’s what I needed. I’ve been wanting to try Verdant Teas for ages, pretty much since I’ve joined this site, and at least with this tea…I’m not disappointed.

1st smell: Flowery, (I like many flowery teas so that’s a good sign.)Unlike the last Jasmine tea I had (Which was ok, but doesn’t even come close to holding a candle to this tea.) this is just wonderful.

This tea makes me yearn for Spring, yeah I know it’s only the last week of February and we could very well be having snow well into April or we could be into 75 degree weather after 10 days. lol. (I don’t hope for that warm, not yet anyways. I would like at the very least be able to enjoy my teas warm for the most part, though I suppose I should start stocking up on my favorite fruity iced tea flavors, heh. Though that can wait till March…contemplating a Butiki order with my birthday moola.

But anyways, hopefully they will bring this back, if they do well, I will mostlikely talk myself into making an order, though truthfully it won’t take that long to accomplish.

My tea tasting today is kind of messed up, we ended up having to get a plumber out here to take a look at our pipes, which is turning out to be a bigger job then we thought, (And alot more $$. Sighs)
So, on to this tea. Maybe it’s due to the crazy right now, but I’m not loving or even liking this tea right now. In fact it’s taking alot of my will power to finish it. It’s not terrible, and thinking I’ll save the rest of the sample for iced tea in a few months. But if it were still current stock, I highly doubt I’d want a bag.

I can barely taste any strawberry, I don’t taste any cranberry which is really disappointing, as I love sweet tart flavors.

At 1st sip, I didn’t care for this one. I mean I thought “Well not a terrible cup, but not terribly inclined to make it again.”

But I kept sipping, I did like it better then the Watermelon from last night, so that’s something right? Nearing to the end of the cup, I found that I did like it, maybe not as much as the Madagascar Coconut White from last night, but enough that I wouldn’t mind having a bag of this hanging around, particularly for summer iced tea.

It’s been a long while since I’ve had Genmaicha of any sort, hadn’t realized before I took the 1st sip of this how much I missed it. (I’ve only had Fusion’s version and a 1 serving packet from a tea giveaway, didn’t have a label on it, but it was kind of nasty…tasted like burnt rice.) But this definitely reminds me that I need to get more.

Taste-The primary taste is Genmaicha for sure. With a aftertaste of raspberry. Now, while I don’t mind having a cup of this, I am not sure these flavors really meld together. I think Genmaicha would be better along side a Chai because the toasted rice has a really warm taste, whereas berries tend to be better suited to cold teas or hot teas with a white tea base.
From looking at Frank’s other Genmaicha blends, I can see Marshmallow being a good partner, as well as chocolate, caramel. Maybe even coconut.
Though I am not much of a dessert tea fan (Especially with chocolate ones. Just tastes like waterdowned hot chocolate.) I think paired with Genmaicha it might be different enough to me that I would enjoy it.

Oh, the irony has not escaped me. A witch making a tea named Witch’s Brew. LOL. Yes it would be a lot more appropriate for it to be Halloween or at least Fall (Most people seem to agree that Chai’s are definitely a Fall tea.) But I had an urge for a black tea to start off with today (I woke up around 10:30 but for some reason could not get myself off my behind to the kitchen to make tea before now.) and this is what my hand fell on.

Smell wise-Very Licorice-y. In fact when I was sniffing it last night I kept thinking it smelled like the licorice flavor Jujubees, which I have not eaten in years due to various things (Like preferring other candies like JellyBellies.)

Tastewise-I am not a huge fan of licorice and the last tea I had that had licorice was kind of weird and a bit gross. But in this….I like it. I’m considering going against my earlier plan of drinking the rest of the samples I had pulled out to have yesterday, today and tomorow and having a cup of Butterbeer, which I did not care for the few times I had it, but want to try again because otherwise I should give it away or pitch out-just taking up space in my cupboard otherwise.

So, if Frank were to reblend it, I would seriously consider buying a bag.

LOL. Since I read the tasting notes and description and ingredients in this tea and noticed that it has Lapsang Souchong in it, I am now thinking I taste an after taste of LS, I wonder if I really do or if it’s the power of suggestion?

**Note**1 About my calling myself a witch, no not talking down about myself, it is how I identify more or less, though I usually prefer Pagan or Spiritual with Pagan inclinations ;) Just for clarification, ya’all!

**Note**2 For future references, should drink this kind of fast as it doesn’t taste that great cooling down, which seems to be a characteristic of Chai blends.

You know how cats keep on licking their chops long after eating? I had a mental image of myself doing that after every sip of this tea. This is how I expected David’s Tea Coconut Grove would taste but just….didn’t.

Don’t ask me if this is an everyday tea…I am not an everyday tea drinker, as I prefer to mostly have my tea as a treat. And even if I were to drink tea everyday….ugh not the same tea, there would have to be variety.

But anyways, I do think I like this enough to want to have it as a staple in my cupboard, though cautioning myself to wait till I’ve tried the rest of it and to possibly get the hf ounce on the website before I go overboard and buy a whole 3 ounces. (Odd size options on the site though.) Somewhat tempted to add some lime juice to this just to see how it would taste. Maybe near the end of the cup, eh? LOL. Oh and alittle bit of salt ;)

Updated: just added some lime juice and salt to this tea…I like! lol. But just a pinch of both mind you.

Home from work a few hours ago, though I still feel exhausted….really? LOL I didn’t work very long today but was running around like a chicken with my head cut off. Sighs So wanted a boost of caffeine for some writing that I want to do tonight.

On to the tea tasting: The overall temp suggestion was 180, but that is not a option on my kettle, and I no longer have a thermometer so went with 175, which generally speaking works out.
Sadly, I am not liking this tea at all, tempted to throw it out. But I won’t. I’ll either force myself to drink it or stick it into the fridge once it cools down, from the other tea notes, I’ve gotten the impression that it makes an passable iced tea, and I’ve been thinking about them lately.

It’s kind of funny, Teavana’s Watermelon Mint Chiller actually has more watermelon then this, though the mint kind of takes over. I’m really wanting to try Butiki’s Watermelon Xylophone now…Argh. This last tea sale that I bought I promised would be my last tea buy for a while because planning on moving to my Mom’s and she’s already going to be HORRIFIED at my tea collection. And I need to learn to put restraints on myself (And not in a fun way :( ) Both for the sake of space and saving money.
Actually this has made me want to make a cup of Watermelon Mint Chiller, so going to go put this into another cup and make it.

Interesting tea. I like the coconutty taste….the combination does seem to give the impression that there is cocoa in there.

Would I get a bag? I think I would seriously consider it if I could find it on the website. I really wish David’s Tea would have an area on the site that lists all the discontinued or seasonal teas.

Not sure if I like the taste of Jasmine…thought I would, I certainly like the smell and I usually like flowery teas in general. It isn’t a bad cup though. Maybe I’m just not in the mood to appreciate it? My Dad is currently working on the kitchen and bathroom sink pipes as we have had some minor backups, so between the god awful smell and having had to move my kettle and tea samples box that could be whats affecting my appreciation sense.
