I am very picky about vanilla. It is one of the most commonly added flavors to various things; teas, specialty coffee, candy,etc. And yet many places ruin it by adding either imitation vanilla crap or they pick the really cheap stuff.

Thank the Gods that that wasn’t the case with Vanilla Comoro by Harney and Sons!

As with many teas, I am at the moment undecided whether or not I’d get more. I have decided that when it comes to H&S I am going to stick to samples and tagalongs, though even with teas that I am pretty sure I like well enough to get one of their tins, which I love, but given I am a tea hound who only has so much room in her tea cabinet, I am afraid that if I get that much tea, it’ll get stale before I’m able to drink it all. I just like variety to much to have any interest in narrowing down to a few teas.

Anyways on to loving this tea. I’ll have to keep in mind that decaf is not the same as caffeine free, and not have this to late in the evening. Sometimes even a little bit of caffeine can keep me awake.

This tea tastes like vanilla velvet if that makes any sense.

I actually had this tea last week, and got it the week before that from my favorite tea store in Plymouth, Mi.
This is kind of a fun, early afternoon tea that tastes best in a small to medium cup. I had put the appropriate amount of tea into my travel 16 ounce cup, and it didn’t taste as good. Was kind of bland.

I tasted in addition to a pineapple-y taste, also a caramel taste. I don’t remember any ginger pieces. Not sure if I would get this again, but we’ll see.

Dry smell: sweet, chocolatey. Not sure if I smell strawberries though.
Taste: Kind of familiar, can’t quite place it.

Chocolate flavored Tootsie Roll Pops! That’s what this reminds me of! LOL. I hadn’t eaten one in years due to a bad habit of chewing on hard candy and that being hard on fillings. I never thought I’d encounter a tea that brings back that memory! Giggles. I only wish there was more of a strawberry hit though, the red pops were my favorite. Hmm, I guess I could add some flavored syrup!

I actually was going to wait til tomorow to review this tea because I’ve been writing, but then I glanced at the clock discovered how late it was!
Decided what the hell write a review then get my sorry ass to bed.
Dry Smell: Hmm heavy, complex, kind of reminds me a little bit of the Mulberry Magic tea.
Wet smell: Pretty much the same, though seemed to be a little heavier.
Taste: Mmm. I like this. If I continue to like this I might add it to the order that I’ve been going back and forth about these last few weeks.
I’m not WOWED by this tea, it’s more like a quiet wow. I did have 1 thought though: that it missed having some lemon rind pieces. I did not know where that idea came from, till I read the description for this tea as I sat down. And then I realized that some of the taste was citrus-y. It seems very muted though. I will try icing this next, damn my mouth is watering at the thought.

Smell wise: OMG. I could smell this all day and not get tired of it. I could wear it like a perfume on my date thursday with my sweetie…and he probably would not leave me alone. Giggles
Wet smell: pretty much the same
Taste: Ahh. it seemed to good to last. It’s good, pleasant. I taste the crumble-y part. And a hint of blueberries. a bare hint. Generally I am not a huge fan of blueberries, though I do like eating them on occasion. But I do love artificial blueberry. The idea of blueberry tea intrigues me, I guess because it’s a hard taste to deliver. I wanted to sprinkle some Cinnamon sugar in this, hoping to get the flavors to jump a little more, unfortunately, accidently added to much, but it’s still drinkable.
On my package there wasn’t directions in how to brew this, so I went with the green tea setting on my kettle (175 f) only just now looked at the website and it suggested 210. Hmm. It struck me as odd because everything I heard about teas that are blended with different types you go with whichever is the lowest, which makes perfect sense to me. But because I want to give this as fair of a shot as I can…I will try that next time, though I might be tempted to add a splash of blueberry flavored syrup or dried blueberries.
Would I get this again: Leaning towards no. But I just might get this again as a sample. And plan on trying this cold too. I think I’ll have enough if I just do it by individual cup.

Well this tea was good, fairly chocolaty. But I am not sure I’d go out of my way to get it from DTT.
I’ve been on a minor quest to see if there is any chocolate teas that I would really love. A few that I’ve had a mild like for…at least at 1st, but by the 2nd cup or even by the end of that 1st cup and sometimes gotten so….ehhh about it I can’t even finish! lol.

I did manage to finish this cup and still liked it. On to reviewing Blueberry Crumble, which is what I am actually drinking now.

Smell and taste wise, can’t say I am especially impressed. However, if this does manage to keep me calm and energized…(Please no jitteriness, I detest feeling like I’ve stepped on a live wire!) I just might be inclined to keep this in my cupboard.

Why I am not impressed: (Nothing against Butiki:) Just about my own preferences, but easily doctored if need be.) I would prefer ALOT more Vanilla in this tea. And a little more Mint. And maybe a little more Lavender.

It could be, that I am just not a Guayusa tea fan. I tried the Citrus PileDriver by 52Teas yesterday, but wound up not being able to finish it til I got home, and neither time it really didn’t taste like much but a bare hint of citrus. (I adore citrus in teas, as long as it’s a bit sharp but nicely balanced out with sweetness.) But I havn’t officially reviewed it yet because I want to give it a fairer shot.
I’m liking this alittle better as it’s cooling down, next time I have it, I will ice it down. I feel kind of weird in having this much caffeine in the middle of the afternoon, even though I am a nite owl I try to avoid having a bunch of caffeine late afternoon because I rarely need help in staying up half the night. But…it’s Wednesday and I rationalized it by thinking: Well, got to grocery shop, (My dad and/or I shop every few days, fruits and veggies get used up better that way.) Also got to pick up my grandmother for the evening, Dad and I are making pizzas with this flatbread I gotten last week.) Then drive Grams back home, and hopefully do some writing. You see, usually on Wed, by the time I get back home I’m wiped out. Tired but not sleepy. So I end up staring at the computer screen trying to muster up the energy to do some work, instead I either end up killing time til I’m sleepy with reading various forums, (Not a bad thing in of itself.) or watching a movie/tv show on my computer.
My writing lately has been awful, not the writing itself but I mean in pushing myself to do it regularly. So anyways, a long winded explanation of why I chose to drink a highly caffeinated beverage in the middle of the afternoon. If this works out in the long run, I may have this and other guayusa teas around for my morning “jump out of bed with a chirp of glee” lol. Something my dad used to say. I’ve never been a morning person even when I was little, so never jumped out of bed with a chirp of glee, even on snow days. More likely I would just go back to sleep for a few more hours.

Can’t write much of a review, taking a really quick break from writing, but wanted to get this down before I forget.

Ok, dry smell: nice, sweet, but not overkill. I think maybe I’ll try the 175 F setting next time, or maybe use the stove top kettle since I got a Tea Thermometer, makes it easier.

At this moment, I cannot say I am at all impressed with this tea, it’s ok tasting but kind of bland. But maybe it’ll be different next time.

Yay, this seems to be working again!

Actually had a tiny glass of this last night but due to the fact it was still warm it didn’t really impress me. I think I’ll try coldbrewing it next.
Based on this glass of iced tea, I cannot say I am really impressed. I mean it’s not terrible, and I wouldn’t mind having it on hand for when I’m in the mood for iced tea…even in the winter sometimes I do crave iced tea, which I perceive as different then my usual tea cravings. It feels like the same cravings I get for juice. There…I think that makes better sense. But if I had to choose between Tropicalia and Pink Passionfruit, (I know I only had 1 cup of!) I would pick Pink Passionfruit in a heartbeat.
Now, this tea is not overly sweet, even with plenty of sweetener, which I consider a really good thing, the last pineapple tea I had…Oh Gods it was so gaggingly sweet! I didn’t even ask where it was from, though I know it wasn’t Teavana because I am pretty familiar with their base flavor profiles. This tea has a tartness that is nice, but in a understated kind of way. I would like if the apple just a bit more apparent, and a tounch more coconut. But….maybe coldbrewing it will bring those flavors out more. So if I cave and end up buying 50 g of Pink Passionfruit, maybe I’ll get this 1 too.

I have a thing for when trying a tea for the 1st time to do it hot, or at least brew it that way, with sweetener, taste it alittle then pour it over ice cubes. Unfortunately though, before I had gotten any solid sips in it, 2 flies decided to commit suicide in my cup. GACK! (Well not truly suicide as I am sure they were just attracted to the sweetness of the tea. Poor things. At any rate, needless to say I am not inclined to finish this cup. The small sips I did take…it was ok, but didn’t seem to be up to par with Pink Passionfruit. So tempted to make another tea, (Like Tropicalia or Coconut Grove.) But if I do that I should go on fly patrol before hand and I really would rather give about 2 hours to my writing, then bed.
