LOL….

I caved. I had planned on not hitting Teavana’s till the Heavenly sale, but then I caught the email about the sale on certain teas…and of course 2 of the teas on sale were favorites of mine (Opus Rouge and Spiced Mandarin Oolong.) And of course I decided that since I was buying that mind as well buy more Cranberry Singapore Sling (Tastes great with the Spiced Mandarin.)
And Citrus Lavender Sage (Tastes good with many of their teas, though I got it to have with Opus Rouge.) Also got more Dragonfruit Devotion because I was almost out.

Then, because I was informed that I was just a few ounces away of getting the LBS discount, I figured “What the hell.” So got this one.

At first, I was thinking it smelled and tasted alot like Dragon fruit Devotion, and was feeling kind of grumpy about that. But, as I continue to drink it, I am thinking there might be some subtle differences. And, I used significantly less then I usually do with teas, so that maybe a factor as well.

I will have to do a side by side comparison, if they are similar tasting, then I will probably get whichever is cheaper.

Pouts I’m beginning to think that due to my allergies acting up with the weather change (slightly.) that it’s affecting my taste sense. I had thought that a few days ago, but I had hoped tonight I was more or less over it because my sinuses aren’t hurting, I just have a slight cough and chest congestion. But…I don’t know….the taste seemed a bit off with the last tea I had tonight, Pomegranate Oolong but I thought that maybe it was just that tea. Hmm. Maybe I should have a cup of tea that I know pretty well and see how that tastes.

This would mostlikely be good as a Iced Tea, but probably won’t find out til next Spring, because while it was in the 80’s earlier today, I get the feeling that this coming week if even then will be the last of the summerish days. But I could always be wrong.
Anywho…not sure if I would buy this before next spring, (If I remember…heh.) to see if it would be good as an iced tea….maybe as an sample.
Just had a thought…this might improve with german rock sugar…alright I think I’ll ice down the next cup I make with this, use some rock sugar, see how it rolls. Sometimes I do like iced tea during the cooler/colder months.

Got this as a sample in my recent tea buy from here.

I’m not wowed by this tea, and as usual not sure if I’d actually buy it as a tagalong if I could find one…maybe as a sample pack. This definitely tastes better hot, because when it cools, it just tastes kind of bland with bitter chocolate and coconut coming up as an after taste. Some people I guess like that…I usually prefer my flavors to be up front…not quite in your face, (Though that can be fun too.) but enough that you can’t deny it’s presence. I’d only do this as a pot if it was with a friend, and a small pot at that.

Meh. This tea is just …..meh. Might be an interesting iced tea, but if this made into the permanent collection or as a comeback, I would not go out of my way to grab it. I did find myself wishing that it had a small shot of coconut flavor, also wishing that I had some coconut syrup or milk around the house but I would probably over do it. I think I’m going to put a few ice cubes with it, if it’s more drinkable then….I’ll finish. Otherwise…down the drain it goes….yeah not liking it that badly. Not even inspired enough to see about adjusting the temp and steep time, though I might at a later time. I’m disappointed with Greens in general. I’ve yet to find a green that I really love. A few that I have a mild like for, you know like “it’s something to drink that has a mildly pleasant taste.” I think I’ve liked Whites a little more, though not by much. Discovered 1 or 2 Oolongs that I like, plenty of Black teas that I like, as well as Herbals/Rooibos. Puerh, have to admit….that one is still kind of intimidating me. I’ve tried a few, but not enough

Finally got a chance to try this out.

1st smell: lightly citrus-y. creamy.
1st taste: same.

Well I do like this better than the Apricot. I also had a mild like for The Killer’s Vanilla. Before trying these 3, I’ve had no experience Guayusa so it could be that I am just not used to the taste. As mentioned before, being a fan of Teavana teas and their tendency to flavor blast may have injured my palate a bit. It’s ok though:) I’m thinking of pairing some of them with other teas, like this one with some kind of stronger orange tea, though heavier on this because I want them to meld, not let the orange take over. I would say lemony tea but I can be a little touchy about lemon in tea. I would also say lime, but…no the only lime teas I have are samples. Come to think of it…I don’t think I got enough in the Sunshine for more than 2 more cups, and probably won’t be able to buy more tea till after Christmas at the earliest.

Just woke up about a half hour ago, after chatting with my Dad for a few minutes, I went to go make tea…he asked if I could wait because he already had the coffee pot going, (Which I felt momentarily annoyed, I mean he usually gets up earlier then me and preps/sets the automatic timer to turn the fricking thing on at 9:30…but I got over it soon after he said that since my kettle and his coffee machine are on the same circuit, we shouldn’t risk popping a breaker. Meh.)
Anyways, got this tea on Thursday when I was running my errands at Whole Foods and Kroger, (There is a Teavana about a mile from WF, so I often combine trips.)

Smell: fruity, heavy.
1st taste: heavy, complex. a bit tart, (in a good way.) It’s so far interesting, but not sure I’d go back to get it. Lately Teavana’s prices have been getting to me, I mean if I get enough saved up, I will be getting a small apartment, otherwise will be moving in with my mom, but either way, won’t be able to spend much on tea at all, let alone at Teavana so will undoubtedly be making the decision to mostly stay away from Teavana unless for special occasions like the Heavenly sale or my Birthday. And I mean truly special occasions, not rationalizations;)

Anyways, this is an interesting tea, it would probably make a decent iced tea, (Most fruity ones do.) And also, it leaves a heavy taste in the mouth as a aftertaste. If you don’t like that…don’t drink this.
This does have an unusual temp and steep time recommendation: 195 and 3 min. I only did 190 because of my kettle and I didn’t think about using my thermometer.

drank Jade Citrus Mint by Teavana

Only get this if you really love mint to the extent that you must have it in everything. I am only half kidding. What I mean is, is that the mint pretty much overpowers everything else in this tea. Which is a shame because I was really looking forward to a citrus-y punch. If your more of a citrus fan, this tea would not be for you. Raspberry Lemon Riot Mate, Spiced Mandarin Oolong, would be the 2 right off the top of my head that I would suggest from Teavana’s if your looking for Citrus tasting teas. I would also suggest Strawberry Lemonade, which has gotten rave reviews, but I have not tried it out yet.

My favorite fruit tea from there: Mango Mate Puerh Punch has unfortunately been discontinued. Sad kitty However, I must truck on, right?

Got this just yesterday….and I had promised myself over the summer to try and avoid Teavana until at least! September/October, if not till their Heavenly Sale. Heh. Who am I kidding?! lol.
I am having a cip of this before work, (Short shift.) and it’s….interesting. Its got the typical Teavana flavor blast, and the hibiscus adds a nice tartness along with the raspberry. I don’t really taste the blueberries, and have no idea what Acai tastes like. I find it amusing when Teavana puts one of the fruits in the tea in the name, and then the taste isn’t prominent with that fruit.

I had it hot, which I liked, but it didn’t taste overly tart to me…just enough to give it bit of a kick. Hmm. Funny…my tummy reacts to mild-to-hot spices, coffee, straight yerba mate taste (Like with nothing covering the taste.) but yet, hibiscus in most of the teas that I have had it doesn’t bother me, in fact I kind of prefer it. Huh.

drank Raspberry Oolong by Unknown

I think this might become a favorite for when I need a tea that is nice, sweet and single noted. I am not in anyway a Oolong expert, and have not come across many that I really like…(So far have been preferring white fruity teas.) So I would not be able to say how much Oolong taste comes thru. I’ve made this hot, and it’s good. Fruity, just a touch flowery. Next time I have it, it will be icy cold, I think I might add just a tiny bit of lemon juice.

Bio

Currently 46 years old…

Been a tea lover for most of my life, though it’s only in the past? (5-8 years.) That I’ve been drinking loose leaf tea.

I like mostly blended teas in Black, White, and some Oolong. Sadly not much Green tea that I really like. And of course Herbal.

Rating Guide that I use, though I am not terribly consistent;)

100 Excellent
90-99 Very Good
70-89 Fair
50-69 The only teas that I am interested in in this rating are teas that I can buy locally, such as at a grocery store, fruit market, tea shop, etc. Or is fairly cheap/add on thru a website.
50 and Below No redeeming qualities whatsoever or is too much like a tea that I already have.

Some teas such as Constant Comment by Bigelow I still drink on occasion, it is one of my comfort teas from when I was growing up. Others are Perfect Peach, Mint Medley and Cozy Chamomile.

I am a bookworm, though I also enjoy art journaling/mixed media, making jewelry, spending waaaaaay to much time online…particularly bingeing various tv shows on Netflix and Hulu. Also various forums like this one (On and off.) Quora, Goodreads, Youtube and misc. others. If you see the nicknames Lynxiebrat/Lynxiegrl,Lynxiedove, Zaaron or Sarikcat, then drop me a message:)
