This is such a wonderful, mellow black tea. It’s mild enough that it doesn’t really have a tannic edge, and the first steep the best almost perfumed black tea smell. Second steep doesn’t smell as heavenly, but is still wonderful to sip.

I think I like this one better than Damman Frerés’. The black tea flavor come through more strongly.

This was one of the first black teas I ever had, so the taste seems to be hardwired into my tastebuds to be comforting, even if it’s not the best black tea ever. I like to use it for iced tea, because usually I’m just so happy to be drinking something cool I don’t care what type of tea I use.

“so the taste seems to be hardwired into my tastebuds.” – I like that.

I love this strawberry black tea. I’ve tried quite a few others and none of them get the strawberry quite right—at worst, sometimes it’s slightly chemical. This one actually tastes like strawberry, and the black tea comes through, too.

It’s a nice full black tea.

This tea almost tastes like brown sugar to me. Well, brown sugar it it wasn’t sweet. I don’t know, it makes sense in my head.

This is one of the better Rooibos teas I’ve had. Bourbon vanilla and vanilla berry truffle still beat it, but not by much. It’s exactly as advertised—the smell and taste of delicious caramel, with the rooibos as a vehicle.

Mmm, Marco Polo, how are you so delicious?

I’m not entirely sure passionfruit should be a tea. It sounded good, but it didn’t live up the what I was expecting.

Bio

I became a fan of tea in 2001 when I started frequenting Savoure in Eugene, OR. It has since closed, and I mourn it.

While visiting France, I did not buy any souvenirs, but I did manage to spend a small fortune at Mariage Frères. Me and my 500g of Marco Polo are very happy together, thank you.

My favorites are flavored black teas, and I like them with milk and sugar. That is not to say that I don’t also enjoy a good green, oolong, or rooibos, especially when they’re high quality. I’m not a huge fan of white, but sometimes one comes along that rocks my tastebuds. I like herbal/tisanes, but I confess that in my head I don’t completely consider them tea, and I usually only dig them out if I’m sick.
