I really like this tea. It’s definitely a sort of variation on Earl Grey, you can taste the bergamot-citrusiness of it more strongly than most Earl Grey, so I like it best in the morning for the bright smell and taste.

This tastes to me exactly like my Russian Caravan blend. Very delicious, mild on the tannins and tastes like wood smoke.

This stuff was good. It seems to be Chado’s answer to Mariage Frère’s Marco Polo. They aren’t quite the same, but it’s the same sort of notes.

This stuff is MAGICAL. My friend ordered it for afternoon tea and from the second we could smell it we’d decided to buy some loose leaf. The mandarin is the most wonderful, subtle taste.

I made this iced because it smelled like it would be good iced. I’m not entirely sure I’d love it hot, though I will probably try that at some point. Anyway, it’s unexpected. At the first sip my mouth wasn’t sure what to think. By the time I’d finished my glass I liked it. By my second glass I really, really liked it. It’s refreshing, but weird…in a good way? I’m sure given that it’s named after a popular villain, it was intended to be just that little bit of jarring.

I am so in love with this black tea. It doesn’t seem to matter how long I steep it (though I never steep it less than three minutes), it never gets bitter and is always good for one more resteep. It smells great and tastes really mellow. Thanks for turning me on to this, Sara.

This is a fruity black tea. I’m not sure I can pin down which fruits. The place I got it doesn’t seem to have a website. It’s in the Forum Des Halles in Paris, which is like a giant labyrinth with a 70s flavor. Irresistible has little colored sugar letters floating around in it. Brewed, it smells and tastes most like berry cotton candy.

This was mellow and surprisingly more minty than I expected, but still tasted of black tea. The vanilla was definitely in the background. It was very good for sipping.

I think this is the best chocolate flavored black tea I have had. It was very smooth, not too bitter, and more chocolatey than I was expecting.

This vanilla was pretty successful. It reminded me of Betjeman and Barton’s Le Classique, but maybe a little milder vanilla, a little sharper tannic kick. It’s a good substitute for when you can’t afford to ship over more Le Classique, for sure.

Profile

Bio

I became a fan of tea in 2001 when I started frequenting Savoure in Eugene, OR. It has since closed, and I mourn it.

While visiting France, I did not buy any souvenirs, but I did manage to spend a small fortune at Mariage Frères. Me and my 500g of Marco Polo are very happy together, thank you.

My favorites are flavored black teas, and I like them with milk and sugar. That is not to say that I don’t also enjoy a good green, oolong, or rooibos, especially when they’re high quality. I’m not a huge fan of white, but sometimes one comes along that rocks my tastebuds. I like herbal/tisanes, but I confess that in my head I don’t completely consider them tea, and I usually only dig them out if I’m sick.
