I woke up feeling exhausted and shaky this morning; I had forgotten I had a bag of this tea in my cupboard and figured it was exactly the right morning for it! I like it a lot. It’s very warm and comforting (of course, I mean it as more than the hot water kind of warm…). Very caffeinated, too, as you can guess from the name. If, like me, you are used to several cups of coffee per day along with your teas and infusions, it shouldn’t be a problem.
The taste is a little smokey, very earthy. Along with the coffee, there’s also a little cocoa and caramel, but it’s not overly sweet in a way lots of teas from DAVID’s are. It’s strong, but smooth, like a careful bear hug from a friend wearing a very cozy sweater. It wasn’t quite enough to wake me up this morning – perhaps because I lacked time to finish my cup – but it was a true comfort. I’d recommend it as a nice dessert tea, or for especially rough mornings.

drank Rooibos de Provence by DAVIDsTEA

The first thing you notice is that this herbal tea smells amazing; once steeped, it stays very tasty and relaxing. The rooibos – and lack of coconut – make it less sweet than Jessie’s Tea, another lavender tea from DAVIDs, and definitely floral. It took me a while to taste the berries, but it’s hard to ignore the fruity aftertaste once you start noticing it.

Like all my rooibos, I love it very hot, and steeped a long time – to me, as soon as it get a little lukewarm it loses a lot of the flavours, leaving only the sweet rooibos (which isn’t bad in itself, but definitely a little bland). It’s one of my favorite teas to drink at night; I let it steep in my room while I shower, and as a small bonus, the entire room smells heavenly for the whole night.

This one is one of my all-time favorite from DAVIDs – I love rooibos, and this one is so spicy, fun and quriky! The red rooibos and coconut make it sweet, but the spices really jump out of the brew from the first sip until the last. Despite the strenght, there’s no unpleasant aftertaste. Amazing with vanilla cookies. ;)

One small negative note, though: sometimes the pepper comes out too strongly and tickles, overtakes the rest. If you’re not a fan of pepper, I would make sure there aren’t too many grains in each brew.

drank Three Wishes Tea by DAVIDsTEA

I accidentally made the water too hot for this one tonight; despite what’s written on the package, it’s quite fragile, and too-hot water will make it taste bitter and burnt. It’s a tea with a very delicate, flowery flavour, combined with the deep herbal taste of the black and green teas. It’s lovely at any time of the day, but I’m especially fond of it in the afternoon or in the evening, with a square of dark chocolate.

drank Vanilla Rooibos Parfait by Tazo

It’s a tea I drink at work – I work at Starbucks, and don’t bother bringing my own teas because I don’t usually have time to steep it properly, or even finish a cup! ;) This one is very sweet, with a vanilla and apple taste. Too much of it makes me feel nauseous, though – or maybe it’s the job?

So sweet and warm, no bitterness – I love it! Not a big fan of green tea, usually, but this one is sweet and spicy enough to make a delightful dessert tea, or a nice afternoon pick-me up. Definitely going to become a permanant tea in my cupboard.
