drank Kiwi Cheesecake Oolong by 52teas

Heavy on the kiwi, light on the cheesecake but the flavor payoff is worth it. This is tasty! I was in the crowd of having no idea this combo was a thing, but now I’m curious to try it. I really like flavored oolongs and this tea didn’t disappoint.

It tastes like an orange julius if you squint a little and think about it really hard. For me the taste was woody rooibos with a creamsicle aftertaste. Not my favorite.

I want the man equivalent of this tea. Dark, smooth, and rich. Perfect with some milk and honey. The base tea gives it such a nice depth and isn’t outshone by the spices at all. The spice blend used is perfect, I love that it isn’t overwhelmingly cinnamon or clove.

drank Strawberry Champagne by Tea Desire

The dry leaf smells exactly like some sort of fruity gum. When brewed it’s really true to its name, strawberries and champagne. The taste isn’t vibing with me for some reason. I really want to like it because it’s fresh and fruity (the quality is clearly really great) but the champagne note is throwing me off. I guess they can’t all be winners!

I love confusing and interesting teas. This one certainly fits the bill. The taste is like salty bar nuts, and I really like it! Even I would do a double take at that sentence but trust me, there’s something about the salty nut mouthfeel in a warm drink that is super comforting. The aftertaste has a floral note which gives it some lightness. The combo really works and gives it some complexity that genmaicha doesn’t always have.

drank Chocolate Macaroon by DAVIDsTEA

I don’t drink black tea that often but I took a chance on this one and it is SPECTACULAR. This tea reminded me of why I love tea. I had a to-go cup of this and then went back the next day to get a tin of it. It’s that good. Creamy, rich, smooth, sweet. The coconut SHINES in this blend and supports the chocolate well. It’s like a liquid Almond Joy. And it doesn’t taste artificial! If you’re a fan of the chocolate/coconut combo, you need this in your life.

The smell of the dry leaf on this one is INSANE. White chocolate and raspberry, through and through. I was worried that the creaminess wouldn’t be present in the taste but it’s there. This is really tasty. Why have I never seen raspberries in tea before?! This one gets a resounding e x c e l l e n t.

Finally received my tea sparrow package for March!
I’m glad this tea is delicious, because the story behind it really sucked me in. If you’re a lemon fan, you’ll love this one. It’s super refreshing and not as astringent as I was expecting. The dash of vanilla saves it from tasting like plain lemon water. It’s like the rooibos isn’t even there!

I’ve never tried any 52teas blends so I took the plunge by purchasing… THREE of the discount grab bags. Three. It’s embarrassing just typing it but I’m trusting you guys can commiserate with ridiculous tea spending. The grab bags (6 teas each) let you try a huge variety for a cheaper price, something I’m a fan of. They must have some elves working at 52teas because there’s not a single tea in this pack that I’m not super stoked to try. And there’s no repeats!

Aaand back to the lemon meringue. This is the tea that I was far and away most excited to try. I have a thing for light, non-chocolate desserts. Sometimes with lemon teas I’m left wondering where they’re hiding the lemons but this one is a LEMON PARTY (sorry). I’m getting the marshmallow root mostly in the aftertaste. It’s all rounded out by a really nice green tea base. It’s light and airy, perfectly lemon meringue. Yum.

drank Honeydew Mate by DAVIDsTEA

This is the other tea I purchased from David’s “blast from the past” collection. I love the melon flavoring in teas like Lupicia’s rooibos honeydew so I was hoping for that combined with the energy boost of mate.

I’ve clearly been spoiled by Lupicia’s melon flavorings. The rooibos in this blend just isn’t the same quality so you get a hint of the woody flavor. The note of melon is there, mostly in the aftertaste. With that said, this is one of the better tasting mate blends I’ve had. The melon flavor complements the earthy mate making this pretty tasty. I’ll be icing this to tame the woodiness and kickstart my mornings this summer.
