592 Tasting Notes
My go-to comfort tea. Growing up as a Korean American, I drank a lot of these teas when I started realizing I didn’t like coffee. My tea experience was pretty limited to this tea and a couple of others. Even after discovering tons of new teas recently (mostly thanks to Steepster!), this is a pantry staple.
I normally don’t like green teas as much because of that bitter taste, but I think the brown rice nicely hides that bitterness in this tea. I’ve had it hot & iced with nothing added and enjoyed it both ways.
The first time I brewed this, it was very bitter. However, I was more careful this time around, only steeping for about 3 minutes, which did the trick! The tea has a light fruity flavor that seemed to lean more toward melon to me.
After steeping a hot cuppa, I resteeped in my water bottle for a cold brew. I can’t decide if I like it better hot or cold. Both are great for this hot summer.
Hmm. So I found a box of this in my mom’s pantry that she had never opened. It was expired, but I googled around and found out that expired tea just loses flavor rather than being harmful.
Anyway, the smell right off the bat was a bit medicinal. It kind of reminded me of the Icy Hot patches you put on sore muscles. But I love spearmint, so I went ahead and steeped a bag. The taste was not quite as medicinal as the smell, but not as soothing as I hoped. Since I have a box of it now, I may give it another chance, but I’m really on the fence about this one.
I accidentally way over-steeped this one because I was distracted, but it surprisingly didn’t turn out super bitter. Only a little more bitter than usual. Anyway, this tea almost tasted more like apple to me than strawberry, but it was still delicious with a clean taste. Definitely loving all the Fortnum & Mason fruit black teas!
