592 Tasting Notes
Hmm. I had high hopes for this one after reading others’ reviews. Upon opening the packet, I could definitely smell chocolate right off the bat, but the smell was really strong and a little off to me somehow. After brewing, the smell was more of a mix between chocolate and the toasty smell of brown rice.
The taste itself was also a mix between the chocolate and genmaicha. It almost seemed more like the flavors were competing with each other rather than complementary, though. Not sure how I feel about that. Also, the tea was a bit greasy-tasting.
Anyway, I think I will save this one for colder weather and try it again then. I may also experiment with using it as a milk tea with boba. I’m really hoping I can figure this one out!
So this is one of the teas I chose for my black tea sampler from The Persimmon Tree. Did not like it as much as the others that I’ve tried so far. The dry leaves and the tea itself both smelled a bit like sour apple, which I was not expecting. The taste was tart with a minty aftertaste. Not a huge fan. I didn’t even really detect the peach taste or scent in it. I will not be repurchasing (sad because I had such high hopes for this one).
This is only the second English Breakfast tea that I’ve ever had and the first one I brewed myself, so I don’t have a lot of reference. That being said, I really like this one. It tastes light and smooth, not too bitter. I got this as one of my samplers from The Persimmon Tree, but I’m definitely thinking of buying more!
I have mixed feelings about lychee as the fruit itself. I like the flavor but not so much the texture. This tea solves that problem for me because it definitely has a punch of lychee flavor. I’m not tasting as much of the peach and other fruits, but I’ve been drinking a lot of peachy teas lately, so that might have something to do with it.
Anyway, I received this as part of my sampler from Persimmon Tree and I’m definitely thinking of buying more of it!
