drank Vanilla Bean Macaron by Tazo

I’ve liked most of the others in Tazo’s dessert delights line but this one is not a fav. Really it’s not even a like. There’s definitely vanilla but then all I get is mud.

drank Marrakech Mint by Tea & Absinthe

Finished off this sad little packet that was hidden in my cabinet. Looks like Tea and Absinthe doesn’t carry this any more and I honestly have no idea how old this packet was. It’s quite pepperminty but not the faux peppermint. The tea leaves definitely have peppermint leaves mixed in. I wasn’t wowed by this one which is why it took so long for me to finish the bag but I would definitely drink it again if offered.

I would say this one is alright. I don’t get the fruity flavor/scent that others remarked about. But perhaps I dulled my senses with all the cleaning products I just used. I probably would give this one another try.

Yesterday, we dipped our toes into our first Comicon (a small one, so that it wasn’t overwhelming). So in honor of that, I pulled out the geekiest tea in my closet (right now). I do like this one. The vanilla “custard” sweetens the tea just enough and adds a bit of interest. Sadly, I just used up the end of this package but as an upside I just learned this is a local company.

drank Winter Wake Up by Trader Joe's

Another cast off from a friend. I find TJ’s teas can be hit or miss in the same box. It was chilly this morning (62*) and a warm mug sounded good. Since my social media is complaining about pumpkin spice, I was thinking cinnamon and cloves might be nice this morning.
Sadly, this mug is a very lack luster mug of water. I do get a vague cinnamon flavor but that could just be because I am looking for it. I’ll be honest and have no clue as to how old these tea bags are. Since they aren’t on the shelves right now, I would guess, at a minimum, a year old But I also know from experience that TJ’s tea bags can vary widely in their blending. Perhaps the next one will be better or perhaps I’ll just use these for the kids and their desire to have a cup of tea with mom.

drank Jasmine Green by Mr. P's Teas
235 tasting notes

This was a free sample that I received earlier this year. The weather is cooler in the morning, so I’ve been pulling out the kettle more. Another sign that summer days are dwindling. After my first sample from this company, I decided it would be best to use it in one go. Sample size appears to be between 1-2tsp. Brought the tea up to temp and steeped longer than I normally would for a green. The package recommended 4-6 minutes; I believe I steeped 3 min.
The jasmine scent and flavor is strong. It’s quite a floral flavored tea. The floral flavor seemed to weaken as I sipped and wasn’t so strong when I poured my second cup.
I also discovered that it is hard to focus on a mug of tea with kids educating you about space and rockets.

Flavors: Floral, Jasmine

Preparation
175 °F / 79 °C 3 min, 45 sec 2 tsp 16 OZ / 473 ML

Very nice color and scent but I truly don’t care for the tea. It left a dry feeling on my tongue and was not enjoyable. Might need a different tea to restart the day today

drank Jade Citrus Mint by Teavana
235 tasting notes

My husband gave me a bunch of different containers of tea bags at Christmas as stocking stuffers from Target. I was surprised that he picked up this container as he greatly dislikes mint and mint flavorings, especially spearmint. But he rarely raids the tea stash, so I guess he picked it up for me. He knows that I miss having the local Teavana shop.
This is the last of the Jade Citrus Mint container. I enjoy this mint blend quite a bit and would pick it up in the future. The sachets seem to have enough room for the leaves to do their magic. I steeped it for 5 minutes in 200* water as directed. It was my after breakfast drink while listening to Jack Johnson out on my deck. It does bother me that each of the containers recommend 200* for all the herbals, greens, etc. You can tell that a coffee company owns this label. I taste the spearmint right away. There is a slight hint of lemongrass which is definitely not overpowering. I’ll pick up another, if I see it in the shops

Flavors: Lemongrass, Spearmint

200 °F / 93 °C 5 min, 0 sec

Strawberry Rhubarb is one of my favorite summer flavors so I was excited to try this fruity tea. I always find it interesting to read the ingredient listings and see that the primary flavors are not the lead ingredient. Apple is listed first and then 3 other ingredients before we get to strawberry and rhubarb flavoring. I wonder if I had blind tasted this how I would have tasted the tea. I’m sure knowing the name of the tea influences my tasting.

I currently have pitcher of this iced in the fridge and a mug of it hot on the table to finish off the packet. I have found it to be a tart, fruity tea. Definitely taste hibiscus and strawberry. I am absolutely reminded of a strawberry-rhubarb dessert.

Flavors: Hibiscus, Rhubarb, Strawberry

Bio

In the early 2000’s, my brother worked for a grocery company that removed items from the shelves and I ended up with a cabinet filled with random tea.

After I finished that cabinet, I started trying new things and exploring the world of tea. Still exploring, still learning, and loving this community.

I tend to take my tea with no additions and quite hot. Though often I find myself having to reheat my mug due to distractions. I’m partial to herbals, white tea, green, and blacks. But I really will try anything once.

Rankings:
100-80 Love in varying degrees
79- 60 Good, but in the friendzone
60-50 Ok, would drink if offered
49-20 Don’t make me try it again!
19-0 Didn’t finish!
