336 Tasting Notes
I asked Stacy for this sample out of curiosity. I thought there was no way tea could actually taste like potato pancakes with applesauce. Guess what! It really does taste like most scrumptious, slightly crunchy potato pancakes with a bit of an applesauce. And now I HAVE to make them!
I’m not a huge fan of ice teas but this is what I made today and I really enjoyed it:
Green Tea and Strawberry Lemonade
Step one: making tea ice cubes.
I used Adagio’s Sleeping Dragon (because I had it at hand) and I brewed it a bit stronger than usual. Regular ice cubes tend to make everything taste too watery.
Step two: cut a box of strawberries into quarters, put them into a bowl and added some vanilla sugar (regular sugar would be fine too) and let them sit for about 30 min. The amount of sugar depends on how sweet you like your drink – I use very little sugar (just a personal preference)
Step three: Brewed a some 3-4 cups of Adagio’s Sleeping Dragon using twice as much tea as I normally would. Pop it into a fridge to cool down. After the tea cooled down I added the strawberry/sugar and to it.
Step four: buy sparkling mineral water of your choice. I used San Pellegrino Sparkling Mineral Water.
Step five: I used a tall champaign glass, added 2 of tea ice cubes which I had prepared in advance. Filled 50%of my glass with green tea/strawberry mix (adding some strawberry pieces) and filling the other half with San Pellegrino Sparkling Mineral Water.
This is a fantastic tea – it’s very gentle, floral and sweet, not exactly what I would expect from a Darjeeling but in very good way.
It tastes even better because I’m drinking it from my new cup: http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro/product/home-glassware/26729111.jsp
(I have the blue and white one). I also have a small scone from a local bakery with my tea.
So good!
About 85% of teas I drink are unflavored. However, I’m always on the look out for a good rose tea as it is probably my favorite.
My recent purchases:
English Rose by Davids tea
Rose Scented by Harney & Sons
Summer Rose by Adagio teas
I have to say I prefer Adagio’s version. The rose flavor is not too overwhelming, it’s not too oily and it also has a lovely lemony undertone that reminds me of a Hybrid Tea Rose.
My least favorite was Rose Scented by Harney & Sons which was quite surprising because their flavored teas are usually great. Just did not care for this particular one.
I’m a huge fan of darker oolongs as I like the toasty flavor. This one, however, feels, much greener and lighter. I quite like it because it’s full-bodied and has smooth sweetness to it. Next time I’ll try the darker version.
Every time I visit Mandala Tea or Butiki or other smaller vendor websites I have all this new vision for their brands. And yes, in my imagination it all looks fantastic, I just can’t help myself :)
YOu gotta tell me more about the new vision, especially since we have just opened our new shop in this new city! I’d love to hear your ideas, my friend!!! I am sipping the light roast DHP right now! The dark roast is awesome and you will mos def have to try it!
The tiny rose bud that was on the top of the tuocha was super cute plus this tea was on sale so how could I resist? I’m a big fan of tuocha format because it’s so convenient and I like to watch the nest shape to unfold.
The taste is sweet and smooth. The rose flavor is very faint, it’s rather floral notes in general that I can detect.
