drank Red, White and Blue by 52teas

10Sep – dry leaf smell cocnut, berries, and sweet.
I’m impressedd with the amount of dried berries in the blend. Big pieces of berries right on top and throughout bag.
3min- tastes of blueberries, red berry and coconut. Flavors blend nicely and none of the berry tastes artificially bright. Berry aftertaste lingers after finish. Black base is solid and smooth. 2nd steep very much a repeat of 1st. Really like this one. 88

Backlog 8Sep, sipdown.
4min, 200F with maple syrup. I’m out of milk or I’d use that too. I like this one, might reorder eventually when I reduce my cupboard.

drank Strawberry & Vanilla by Lupicia

Backlog, sipdown by discard.
I’ve been cold brewing this because I knew I’d hate it hot. I don’t like strawberry flavored things.
This tea was cloying even cold brewed. I find flavoring on this blend to be unpleasant. Most of Lupicia’s flavored teas that I’ve tried have not been to my taste.

Super Starling!

I feel the same way about them. Bummer.

They all taste overflavored (?) and artificial. I wanted to like some of them. :(

I happen only to like the Lupicia ones that are top rated by Steepster, as well as Queen’s Muscat Oolong and Emerald Earl Grey.

Backlog Aug 28th. Sample sipdown.
Pretty good, I liked the addition of honeybush, gave it a different flavor than a normal breakfast blend.

Backlog from Aug 28th- 175F, 80ml gaiwan, 4g
Soft, tangy melon, thick mouthfeel. Steeped it 5 times. Leaves never fully unfurled so I’ll probably try it with hotter water next time. I liked what I got, but feel like I didn’t get everything it had to offer.

drank Peach Oolong by Tea Market

Cold brew. Easy enough to drink though it tastes slightly artificial. Peach, tangy and a hint of oolong.

Sample from Midwest Teafest. I followed brewing instructions on this though I wished I hadn’t. 5 min, 205F westren resulted in a very tannic, unpleasant cup of tea. Probably needed milk to make it somewhat palatable.

So I got this as a sample from my 1st order. Smells, but not taste of banana. Hint of nut. I didn’t get any bread notes. However, this was a very small sample, so it was under leafed and probably needed milk or sugar to bring out the full flavor.

Flavors: Nuts

Bio

I started my tea journey with Stash/Celestial Seasonings tea bags years ago. All loose leaf, unless I’m sick or traveling.

I like black, oolong, white, herbals, and raw/ripe pu’erh. I don’t drink green tea often.

I play video games, read, and do pottery. My current favorite tea mug is one I threw and glazed.

I generally review teas twice – initial and final steeps.

My cupboard is completely out of date. I have a spreadsheet (it’s current!!!) that’s over 300 teas. Pretty equal amounts of black, white, oolong, raw, & ripe with a little bit of green/herbal.

Ratings
85-100 are teas that I loved and want to keep in stock.
71-84 are teas that are good. I may or may not get them again. Source for daily drinkers/work teas.
60-70 are teas that I didn’t like. I’ll finish what I bought.
Anything less than 60…nope.
