Backlog. Sipdown. This tea traveled with me to the annual family gathering.
I don’t have much to add. Plum and roasted. My Dad says it’s a lot like the tea he gets at chinese restaurants.

Flavors: Plum, Roasted

Backlog – 190F, 2min, 2tsp
Dry leaf – hay, grass, spice
Grape spicy/spice malt. Spice note is different – almost spicy/hot w/o actual heat.
Body fairly thick, nearly no aftertaste.
2 min – sort of like dry grape skin feeling of mouth coating. More grape, less spice, malt.

Not a combination I’d want to repurchase. Grape flavor kills it for me – one of my blindspots. Rest of it went to a good home – gave it relatives who like tea. Sipdown

Backlog. I wanted to type this up somewhere not on my phone, but work’s been too crazy busy. Dry leaf smells great! Orange milk oolong / cream soda. Sarsaparilla.
3 min, 200F – orange, sarsaparilla, creamy middle
3min, 4 min – lost the orange, creamy, little root beer, sarsaparilla really helps bring creamsicle feeling

Flavors: Creamy, Orange, Root Beer, Sarsaparilla

Sipdown. I’m a little sad this is gone. Great fruity black with blueberry and coconut. Very natural tasting. Not a punch you in the face with blueberry oil. Berry flavor resteeped well and steeps were consistent.

Backlog. Sipdown.
I enjoyed this tea especially as it had no added milk flavor. Probably replace once I get my cupboard under control.

Backlog
Sipdown. Overall I enjoyed this tea. Pretty spicy in the ginger/cinnamon way. This last cup clogged the strainer. So that sucked :(
Tended to contaminate steeper with flavor as well. Probably not a reorder.

Backlog.
I used my new pu knife to break a chunk off this cake. It really smells of dill weed.
5g, 75ml gaiwan, 190F
Rinsed once. 20s/30/20×6/25/30/35/40/1m/1/2/5m
Long lasting tea. I eventually stopped when flavor started to fade, though my water was cooling off and I didn’t want to heat more.
Beginning steep was thick with dillweed and a slightly floral flavor. 2nd steep went a little longer and brought out savory and dillflower in addition to dillweed and thick mouthfeel. I didn’t like the savory taste, so I returned to 20s for a while.
Over the next 6 20s steeps, it returned to dillweed, but sweet. Mouth coating, thick and sweet aftertaste. Cause my mouth to tingle. Dill came out more in longer steeps. Faded toward end.
I liked this. Different but good. I’ve entertained getting another cake or two next time I order. 88

drank Black Dragon Pearls by teasenz
536 tasting notes

Bought these as a replacement for Teavana’s Black Dragon Pearls.

It didn’t quite work for me at home, but it’s perfect for work. Usually, work teas are those I’m hoping to use up quickly.
Easy to measure, consistent chocolate and malt taste, and works well with inconsistent brewing.

This one I will reorder because it’s a solid black and very convenient.

Flavors: Chocolate, Malt

100ml gaiwan, 195F, 5gish
Tastes of plum/prunes for 5 or 6 steeps. Good consistent tea, but flavor layers aren’t there for me. Very plummy, but one note.

Edit: sometimes my phone keyboard ugh

Flavors: Plum

Profile

Bio

I started my tea journey with Stash/Celestial Seasonings tea bags years ago. All loose leaf, unless I’m sick or traveling.

I like black, oolong, white, herbals, and raw/ripe pu’erh. I don’t drink green tea often.

I play video games, read, and do pottery. My current favorite tea mug is one I threw and glazed.

I generally review teas twice – initial and final steeps.

My cupboard is completely out of date. I have a spreadsheet (it’s current!!!) that’s over 300 teas. Pretty equal amounts of black, white, oolong, raw, & ripe with a little bit of green/herbal.

Ratings
85-100 are teas that I loved and want to keep in stock.
71-84 are teas that are good. I may or may not get them again. Source for daily drinkers/work teas.
60-70 are teas that I didn’t like. I’ll finish what I bought.
Anything less than 60…nope.
