The amazing green oolong is now gone and I mourn its loss. This green is finally growing on me and I will miss it too when it is all gone!

drank Coffee Pu'erh by DAVIDsTEA
148 tasting notes

I brewed this in my to go mug this morning, and I have to say that I loved it. I thought the dry leaf smell was really odd, but when I tasted it I went woah! Yummy! I didn’t get any fishy puerh flavor out of it, just warm and earthy with some caramel and coffee. I finished the whole mug in an hour, which is great until you are sitting in class realizing you just rapidly downed 14oz of tea…

I’m starting to be impressed by DavidsTea. I’ve liked the last few flavors I tried and might even be tempted to order more of this Coffee Pu’erh when it’s gone.

WOW this was so sweet! I’m not a sweetened tea person, and this was verging on the border of too sugary for me sans any added sweetener. That being said, it was delicious.
One of my favorite things in the world is going up to visit my friend Becky and her family in northwestern Oregon. They always feed me a lot of good food, and at night we make a big bonfire and toast giant marshmallows (I like lighting them on fire then blowing them out). Toasted marshmallows remind me of bliss and good people.
This tea tastes like toasted marshmallows and cinnamon. I might end up mixing it with a straight black tea to cut down on the sweetness, but the first cup made me smile for sure.

drank Banana Nut Bread by DAVIDsTEA

Another sample I got in my Davidstea order: holy sweet tea, batman!
Seriously though, this was a very sweet tea just on its own. I did think it tasted a bit like banana nut bread, but got more walnut flavor out of it than banana, possibly due to the sample size. And since I can’t eat gluten, I went mmm banana nut bread, how I miss it…

drank Pineapple Oolong by DAVIDsTEA
148 tasting notes

My DavidsTea order finally came! This was one of my free samples, so I decided to try it with lunch. I made it hot, but think this would be a better iced tea.
I can taste the oolong and a hint of pineapple, but the flavoring tastes really artificial. It also has a creamy taste and texture that I don’t typically associate with oolong. Not bad, but not something I would buy either.

Aww, that’s disappointing. I would like to try this one iced.

Claire

I was pretty excited about it too! It probably doesn’t help that 1) I love oolongs and 2) some artificial flavorings weird me out.

Nik

Ya. I like what I’ve tasted of oolongs so far and really don’t like artificial/perfume-y/chemically flavours.

I drank this twice today, first steep in my to go mug, and second cup after I got home from school. I’m starting to like this (partner is still in love with it). And since I’ve been reading a lot of poetry lately:

Twice or thrice had I drank thee,
Before I liked thy taste or hue;
So in a steep, so in a shapeless cup,
Green teas affect us oft, and savored be

Thanks to John Donne (one of my favorite poets).

I have a confession: I totally dumped out my cup of Rishi pu’erh and made a cup of this instead. Oh oolong, how I love thee.
Shall I compare tea to a summer’s day?
It art more tasty and more delicate
Rough steeps do shake the darling buds of bay
And a cup’s lease hath all too short a fate

(thanks Bill Shakespeare)

drank Pu-erh Classic by Rishi Tea

I found myself thinking today that I really “should” drink this tea. It’s still okay, not bad, but just ok. Little bit of earthy musty flavor, still kind of fishy. I might try to give this away…

I like bananas, and I like coconut, so after reading about this tea on Steepster and magically finding it in the grocery store, I had to get it!
I double tea-bagged my cup because I like strong tea. I have a feeling I will be drinking a lot of this – I love the flavors even though I wish it was a little stronger. It reminds me of eating banana chips.

I usually use 2 teabags per cup with the small teabags from RoT. That might help give the added boost of flavor you’re looking for.

Claire

Thanks LiberTEAS! I actually did double bag it, but was using a big mug, at least 14oz capacity maybe 15oz. What size mug do you use with the double tea bag?

Yummmmm.

Edit: I should add that I am writing a paper on Freud and this tea is the only thing keeping me sane.

I mostly drink straight tea, and some of my favorites are green teas and oolongs. I almost always have some sencha and tieguanyin in my tea cupboard (and if I run out, awesome, an excuse to buy tea). I do like some flavored teas, but can’t stand really sugary stuff so if it’s very sweet I probably won’t like it. I can’t drink milk so all my reviews are of tea without milk and sugar!
I’ve been getting into puerh the last few months.

Outside of Steepster I’m an English Lit major, and will FINALLY be graduating after the Fall 2013 semester. After that I plan on applying for graduate school to obtain a Master’s in Library Science. Currently I work as a student assistant in the Archives and Special Collections department of my school’s library.
I also like reading (of course) and playing video games when I have time for them.

I’m happy to send samples to anyone in the US or Canada. Just ask. :)
