326 Tasting Notes
Tried this hot this morning; it’s definitely much better iced. Hot this initially just tastes like drinking warm water, which I’m not partial to. As I made my way through the cup the kiwi did come out more, but not as much as it did when iced.
I’m not going to change my rating as I really enjoy this as an iced tea, especially if you’re in the mood for something very light, but I don’t think I’d make it hot again.
Preparation
This was one of my first purchases at David’s Tea. Having a true love for the Indian drink, I just couldn’t resist. Sadly I should have known better, as I’ve never been a fan of camomile. I also ended up buying way more of this than I should have—about 75g compared to my typical 25g if I haven’t tried a tea before.
Despite it’s camomile base, this tea has grown on me as I slowly try to deplete my supply. It’s certainly not a go-to, but if I want a herbal tea that isn’t overpoweringly fruity this is a nice option; which was exactly what I was in the mood for tonight.
The camomile really stands out over everything else. There’s a pleasing hint of vanilla as well. Sadly, the mango doesn’t stand out as much as I would like.
I’m curious to try this one as a latte (which was initially my plan for this evening until I realized there was no milk). I attempted it once but failed to use enough tea. Still plenty of this left so I’m sure I’ll get the chance eventually…
Preparation
Got a to-go cup of this on my way home this afternoon. Of course I foolishly didn’t let this cool down enough and ended up burning my tongue which really impaired my sense of taste.
That being said this is a very nice chocolaty tea—almost like a weak hot chocolate. Definitely picked up on the almonds as well. I suspect this one would be amazing as a latte!
Flavors: Almond, Chocolate
Pleasantly surprised by this one. I’ve been drinking fruitier teas recently and wasn’t 100% sure I wanted something on the spicier side, but I picked right.
Orange note is much stronger than I expected, and it complements the cinnamon nicely. Overall effect is light, sweet, and spicy. Occasionally you’ll hit a little extra kick at the back of your throat from the chili. Overall, much more dynamic than I was expecting.
Flavors: Cinnamon, Orange
Preparation
Initially surprised by this one’s low score, but I have to say I understand it.
I brewed this at 80 degrees for about 4 minutes, which is how I normally brew green tea, yet this one still seems bitter. The smell is nice—light and fruity, and the initial sip brings out a nice hint of mango. Unfortunately it’s all down hill from there. Further sips are bland and the after taste is downright chalky. Once the chalkiness has subsided (takes a few minutes), I finally get some juiciness coming through which does improve it. Interested to see if this is any better iced, but I doubt I’d buy it again.
Preparation
Cold brewed this one last night to have this morning. Steeped it for about 12 hours.
It was quite tasty cold. Very sweet. I usually find I have to add a tiny bit of sugar to iced teas, but not this one. Flavour was actually very similar to kool-aid, but quite watery. Pleasantly mild considering how sweet it is. The green tea isn’t really noticeable, maybe just a hint of it at the end of a sip. Looking forward to trying this one hot, but I have a feeling cold is the way to go with this one.
