Latte time! The chestnuts really shine having it as a latte. Delicious, creamy, chestnutty goodness with a hint of chocolate. Perfect for a “blizzard”.

I figured this would make a good cold brew, but it’s basically the same as hot: a fruit roll up with too much apple. I bought this under the impression that I liked it and clearly I was mistaken or my tastes have changed. It’s not awful, but it’s not what I want.

Sipdown! Though I was sure I had more of this lying around…

I have a tendency to not make lattes as it’s much easier to just brew up a black cup. But I have to say there are teas that are just meant to be lattes, and this is one of them. This is so perfect tonight I have to say I’m sad to see that I don’t have any left. Buttery delicious with spices and tart apple. Perfection.

drank Coconut Cream Pie by DAVIDsTEA

Speaking as a not huge coconut fan, this is rather lovely. I had it as a tea latte. Sweet, creamy, coconut—as one would expect. I’m not sure it screamed “pie” to me, but those flavours might’ve gotten muted due to it being a latte. I wouldn’t want to have it in my cupboard, just as I don’t see myself craving coconut cream pie that often, but I sure got through this quickly because it was just so tasty!

Finally had this hot (and have almost made it through all of the 24 days of tea :P ) and I have to say it it so much better! Really dominant fresh blueberry taste with a hint of jasmine. If I was really in the mood for a blueberry tea, this would probably be it. Only downside was a very slight astringency at the end, but it was barely noticeable. I’ll give it a few more points.

Flavors: Blueberry, Jasmine

Kristal

Just finished up all of the samples from the 24 days of tea. Cupboard number is finally at a half reasonable amount now :P

Fay

Hurray! I seem to buy more as soon as I get to a reasonable amount :P

Kristal

Same! My frustration is that DAVIDs always comes out with tons of limited time teas which then causes me to purchase more.

I know Steeped Tea (a company I sometimes order from) is coming out with their spring catalogue soon and I may end up buying a bit from them. One thing that frustrates me about them though is that they don’t have a full ingredients list in the catalogue, so before I order I’m going to ask my consultant what EXACTLY is in it. There have been times where I would not have ordered certain teas if I knew the ingredients.

drank Random Steepings by Various Artists

Today’s experiment was 50:50 Cool Cactus and Mango Diablo and boy, what a delicious tropical explosion! There’s so much going on here—lime, mango, pineapple, prickly pear, strawberry, spice, etc—that every mouthful is different. It’s like eating a bag of tropical skittles!

Fjellrev

Sounds like a fantabulous combination. :)

Fay

It is! I’m going to be very upset when I run out of both of those teas.

After giving this a proper chance I have to admit I’m still not a huge fan. I find it very dry, like drinking cedar, and I still find it has a bizarre blueberry yogurt vibe. I’ll try it on a quicker steep time for the last cup, but I don’t see myself picking up any more of this.

drank Buchu Superfruit by DAVIDsTEA
326 tasting notes

So I wasn’t sure about this one but I want some thing new and herbal given the 4 cups of black tea I’ve already had today, so it at least fit the bill.

The first note is predictably fruity/berry-y. Blackberry seems dominant. Unfortunately there’s this off putting not that I can’t put my finger on. I feel like it’s kind of woody, so maybe it’s the rooibos, but I wouldn’t swear by it. The aftertaste is fairly nice and rather bizarrely reminded me of a cheesecake covered in berries and berry sauce—yummy! Too bad the tea doesn’t taste like the aftertaste.

Flavors: Berries, Blackberry, Cheesecake, Fruity, Wood

Kristal

I didn’t care for this one either. It’s the only one of the “feel-good collection” I did not like

Fay

Same here so far, though I’ve yet to try Hangover Helper and Live Wire Lemon.

raven22

I liked this once better iced would that be an option for you to try?

Fay

Hmm…I might give that a go one day. Thanks for the tip!

drank Snow Day by DAVIDsTEA
326 tasting notes

I just realized I drank this on what was actually a snow day, how appropriate.

Unfortunately, this tea is awful. I’ve never been a fan of DAVIDs’ mint (I think I’ve made that pretty clear to anyone who follows me), but there were quite a few mint teas in the Advent Calendar (including this one) and up until now they at least been tolerable.

Not so in this case. It starts off promising. Mint and white chocolate. Not great and I wish it felt a little more “crisp”, but it wasn’t terrible. As it cooled off, however, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was eating compost/plastic masked by mint. It also had that off putting sickly sweetness at the back of your throat. I considered throwing this down the drain (which I don’t believe I’ve ever done) and I have no idea how to handle the last half of this tin (probably get my boyfriend to try it—he’s less picky). This was truly bad. I actually feeling kind of nauseous now… The 5 points it’s getting is because at first I had hope.

Preparation
205 °F / 96 °C 4 min, 0 sec

Darn, sorry to hear that :(

I haven’t actually had too many straight green teas so I wasn’t sure what to expect going into this.

I actually really enjoyed this. Vegetal, yes, but not overpowering. I got a real Japanese soup vibe from this, which is probably because of the seaweed notes. I could probably sip on this for a really long time before I got tired of it, but I’m not sure if I would go out of my way to pick some up.

Flavors: Broth, Salty, Seaweed, Vegetal

175 °F / 79 °C 2 min, 0 sec
