Ended up using a different infuser which seemed to yield a stronger cup. Strawberry still dominant but what arguably could be blackberry seemed to come out a bit. Pastry notes were more muted.

Rarely do I reach for such a simple tea (in fact, this wouldn’t even be in the cupboard if it wasn’t my boyfriend’s favourite), but having Chinese for dinner tonight really put me in the mood for a nice cup of jasmine.

This is a really nice tea. It’s sweet and floral. Flavourful without being overpowering. The smell of the jasmine is intoxicating from dry leaf to last sip. I’m beginning to wonder why I don’t drink this more—might have something to do with the hefty price tag.

Rather lovely iced. The melon is the strongest flavour but I’m also picking up a bit of a papaya note towards the end of the sip which I didn’t really notice when hot. This tea works well either hot or iced, depending on your mood.

Tried this hot this evening.

I have to say I definitely prefer this iced. Hot brings out the white tea a lot more. The nectarine is very subtle right at the beginning of the sip; I preferred the more intense flavour I got from a cold brew. Still, a nice change considering most of my teas aren’t very tea heavy.

Tried this as a latte. Initially the beginning of the sip was very tea heavy with a powerful, artificial, candy-like strawberry flavour (kind of like a strawberry starburst) coming through at the end. As the cup cooled the flavours merged a bit more making the tea creamier and the strawberry less intense. While this did improve for me as the cup cooled down, I still wasn’t won over by this one. I’ll try it black as well as iced to see what I prefer for getting through the rest of what I have.

I totally agree. I have the rest cold brewing in the fridge hoping it’ll be better that way, but I have a feeling that artificial strawberry note is doomed haha.

I think I’ll try this cold brewed next as well. Based on the fact that I found this better once it had a chance to cool off a bit I’m hoping that iced it’ll be pleasant.

A little surprised by this one, simply as it wasn’t what I was expecting at all. While I thought this would be another darker berry mix like Berry Refreshing and Elderflower Spritz, this is a lot more like a strawberry rhubarb pie. The strawberry really stood out for me, which I found interesting as it’s not one of the ingredients. It also had a buttery flavour that gave the idea of pie crust. Like many similar teas, this starts off sweeter and develops a nice tartness as it cools. Really happy with this.

Iced this begins on a fruity note similar to a cross between blueberries and pomegranate followed by the hibiscus. Lemongrass? Was it even in there? This wasn’t a love for me, which is disappointing considering the description made me think it was going to be a new favourite. Funnily enough, my favourite part was probably the hibiscus.

Had this tasty little number as a latte today.

Mint is definitely the most prominent flavour, followed by coconut, then chocolate. I recall the chocolate being more noticeable and not even realizing there was coconut when drinking this black, but it’s been a while and I had a cold then. Overall rather cozy. A coconutty (totally a word) After 8 vibe that would probably make an excellent post-dinner tea session if it weren’t for the caffeine (not like that’s stopped me before). Not one I’d restock, but I could see picking up a to-go cup from time to time.

Oh my, will I ever get tired of iced tea?

Had some of this to get me through my exam this morning. The white tea is surprisingly noticeable and is complemented nicely by a light peach flavour. Sweet enough to drink without adding anything but isn’t overpowering. I had a small sample of this hot yesterday in store as well and it’s equally as pleasant. Will be enjoying a lot more of this in the near future, but I doubt I’ll stock up.

Of the entire David’s Tea spring collection this is by far the one I was most hesitant about. The description didn’t grab me, the smell didn’t grab me, and yet it seemed silly to buy every one except this one instead of just buying the box set.

The smell, I find, is very reminiscent of wine, which may well be a selling feature for people (just not me). Initially the sip is very berry heavy (I don’t know what elderberries taste like, but it reminds me of blueberries) and there’s something almost grape-like which furthers the comparison to wine. The further into the cup I get the more the floral notes come out. The aftertaste is like you’ve just eaten a violet; I can almost feel the soft fuzz of petals. I do find this heavier than other white/green tea blends I’ve had. I suspect it would be rather lovely iced for a summer party (maybe with a little something added as a kind of make-shift sangria). While I doubt I’ll be investing anymore in this particular blend, I’m sure this will have plenty of moments to shine.
