drank Chestnut by Lupicia

I received this tea from my friend in France. So if you looking for this, it’s “Châtaigne” in French. Today, I deceided to drink this tea to relax and because it’s inspire me (yes, it’s Fall!). And… Wow! It’s a big surprise! I really like the “sweet/salt” combination. It’s taste caramel and chesnut at first and after, the aspect of the japanese green tea (salty and herbal).

drank Jardin Bleu by Dammann Frères

Today, I drank “Jardin Bleu” from Dammann Frères. It’s a black tea with rhubarb and strawberry and wild strawberry aromas. It’s a good tea but a little acidic for me. I taste the strawberries but only it after that. It’s creamy and wow! I want more strawberries! I will try again as an iced tea.

205 °F / 96 °C 3 min, 0 sec 1 tsp 8 OZ / 250 ML

drank White Mae Teng by Tea & Ty
18 tasting notes

Today, I decided to drink a white tea, from Tea&Ty: White Mae Teng. It’s a tea that I received from my friend in France, so this is the reason why I have the chance to have it. To be honest, it’s not fresh but I was able to write my review.

First thing that I saw, it’s the tea leaves: it’s so dense et so big! It was difficult to put 4 grams of tea inside my little teapot!! Lol But, where is the delicate and sweet aroma?

Well, it’s only when the leaves are wet that I smelled a sweet, fruity and delicate aroma. Also, I smelled aloes vera. The liquor was a light golden yellow and the leaves are vibrant green. At tastes, it fruity (apricot?), sweet (honey). The aloes vera is also present. Then while getting cold, I also perceived notes of mangoes.

It’s an interesting tea to drink. A beautiful complexity in aroma and savors. It’s surprising me for a white tea. Also, it’s refreshing and a good tea to drink in Spring or Summer.

Aloe vera is a good descriptor for white tea. I’ll have to remember that one.

For me, it’s very delicate at taste but yes, I agree with that. ;)

drank Choco by Yogi Tea

To finish my day, I decided to drink “Choco” from Yogi Tea with my big teacup. This herbal tea smell creamy hot chocolate. But at taste, it’s a little bit different: licorice at first, spicy and the little bit presence of cocoa. It’s not bad but I will try with my glass teapot next time. Anyway, it’s comforting!

205 °F / 96 °C 7 min, 0 sec 8 OZ / 250 ML

drank Vanilla Orchid by DAVIDsTEA
18 tasting notes

Today, I decided to drink “Vanilla orchid” from David’s Tea. It’s interesting because I have a lot flavoured black tea and this one it’s an oolong. So, I tested it.

In the aroma, the vanilla dominates with a little touch of floral. It’s delicate and sweet. In taste, well… in the beginning, the oolong (a cheap oolong in my opinion) are here but not strong in my mouth. The vanilla and orchid are in aftertaste. But the more I take sips, the more they tend to want to take place in my mouth. Still, it’s not so pervasive.

So I think this blend is well balanced: I taste the tea but it does not invade the other ingredients and vice versa. It’s like fresh air in Spring!

205 °F / 96 °C 4 min, 0 sec 1 tsp 8 OZ / 250 ML

Today, after a tea tasting disaster (the tea was not good), I decided to make another one and I choose Bai Hao Jingmai from Camellia Sinensis Teahouse. To be honest, it’s one of my favourite tea and my boyfriend love it also. I used gong fu cha technique.

It’s not a tea that changes (smell and taste) with the infusions and the colour of tea was like golden or amber. At smell, it’s spicy (cinnamon) and sweet (honey). And in taste: cooked fruits (mostly cooked pears), honey and the aftertaste is a little bit spicy. Yummy!

My little disappointment is that it’s not persistent: only 4 infusions and after that, it tastes water…

drank Rootbeer by Monsieur T
18 tasting notes

When I was in Quebec City, I decided to buy this rooibos from Monsieur T. The name intrigued me, and despite the smell of Root Beer in the bag, I really wondered if the taste was going to be the same.

Well, I taste it today and… yes, it taste Rootbeer but without the sparkling. And it doesn’t hide the rooibos and the honeybush. It’s very strange and I don’t know how to describe this! Lol Like I say in my review (in French), if you don’t know what Rootbeer is, I suggest trying it before to try this blend. You probably understand what I mean by “it taste rootbeer” and not to describe each ingredient.

drank Chics Chocs by Péchés Mignons
18 tasting notes

Today, I decided to try a tea from a small company in the Quebec province: Péchés Mignons. They decided to develop their own tea blends and they call this collection “La Route des Thés”. The name of the blend that I was trying, reflects a specific region of Quebec (Chics Chocs).

This tea is very delicate smell: I detect blueberries, maple… bergamot. Where is vanilla?

In taste, the black tea is here but the flavoured of blueberries dominate and it surprises me. I was afraid that the bergamot was too strong and hide the tea (this is the reason why I hate Earl Grey!). The sweetness part is delicate (maple).

Well, for me, it’s a good tea: black tea are here and the ingredients don’t hide it. My little deception is that it’s been difficult to search for the maple and vanilla.

Flavors: Bergamot, Blueberry, Maple, Vanilla

Preparation
205 °F / 96 °C 3 min, 0 sec 1 tsp 8 OZ / 250 ML
