drank Pu-erh by Astra

Dark, rich colour.
The smell is quite strong, clear pu-erh notes with solid earthiness.
The taste is surprisingly good given that the tea is of a cheap variety and packaged in tea-bags. Just what you can expct from an average pu-erh.

Flavors: Earth

Preparation
195 °F / 90 °C 5 min, 0 sec 2 g 7 OZ / 200 ML

drank Golden China by Pickwick

Strong earthy aroma. And besides it? I don’t know whether I smell a very, very subtle jasmine note, or am I just imagining it, knowing that it allegedly should be present…
The taste is quite bland, very mellow, rather dusty, again with only subtle or none jasmine.

After drinking this so called tea for a while I can state, that the jasmine is present after all, but it’s barely noticeable. Creating such crap is an achievement in itself even for Pickwick.

Flavors: Dust, Earth, Jasmine

Preparation
Boiling 5 min, 0 sec 2 g 7 OZ / 200 ML

Very strong aroma with a lot of mango, slight lemon and subtle white tea notes in the background.
Slightly sweet, very fruity taste, with dominance of mango and only subtle lemon. Very slight white tea bitterness in the aftertaste.
Refreshing and nice. Especially good as a cold brew on a hot sunny day.

Flavors: Grass, Lemon, Mango

drank Blueberry Muffin by Lipton
382 tasting notes

Strong, sweet flavour that really reminds of blueberry muffins, seems pretty natural.
Slightly sweet in taste, with a lot of fruity and some biscuity notes, subtle earthy aromas from base tea in the background.

All in all it’s pretty good, but nothing extraordinary.

Flavors: Blueberry, Cake, Earth

Preparation
Boiling 3 min, 0 sec 2 g 7 OZ / 200 ML

Smells like roasted banana sprinkled with powdered cocoa. rather artificial but quite warming.
Tastes definitely more like pear and the cocoa fortunately turned more into chocolate. Some earthy and malty notes from the base tea are also present.

All in all it’s not a bad one. Too artificial but soothing and warming.

Flavors: Chocolate, Cocoa, Earth, Malt, Pear

Boiling 5 min, 0 sec 2 g 8 OZ / 250 ML

drank Choco Mint by Yogi Tea
382 tasting notes

Very strong cocoa aroma, subtle mint notes, a lot of spices in the background. Energetic bouquet.
The taste is quite mellow, rather watery, with a slight ginger spicyness being the most discernible aspect. The result is simply boring, not minty enough to contrast the cocoa background.

Flavors: Cardamom, Chocolate, Cinnamon, Clove, Cocoa, Ginger, Spearmint

Preparation
200 °F / 93 °C 5 min, 0 sec 2 g 8 OZ / 250 ML

drank Rich Earl Grey by Lipton
382 tasting notes

Surprisingly rich and fresh smell after opening the box. After brewing the aroma is still strong, with nice notes of bergamot, solid citrus and earthy base tea in the background.
It tastes more like one could expect from Lipton. Bergamot notes are present, as well as slight citrusy ones, but the base tea is shallow, bland, without character.

Generally drinkable, but it smells much better that tastes.

Flavors: Bergamot, Citrus, Earth

Preparation
Boiling 3 min, 0 sec 2 g 8 OZ / 250 ML

Bio

I drink tea almost all the time.

However, my tea drinking can be divided into two main categories.

1. I work a lot at my computer and when I work, I need to always have tea at hand. That’s when I drink bag varieties, mostly black blends, often corporate ones. They need to be at least drinkable, of course, but I don’t focus on the taste much, though I don’t go below a certain level…

2. When I read (and read a lot) or when I’m just relaxing, I savor tea. That’s when the better varieties come into play, that’s when I use leafs instead of bags, that’s when I really focus on what I’m drinking.

I’m Polish, temporarily living in Copenhagen, Denmark.
