Well, hell. After spending over $1000 last year, I promised I would control myself. But I’m already up to over $1700 this year. That is all tea alone, not counting various pots and cups and infuser’s. And I just realized I’ve got over $100 of loyalty credit on Yunnan Sourcing that I can spend… but I do think I have rounded out my collection of Pu’ers that I to intend to age. Got everything set up with humidity controlled storage containers, mulberry bark paper wrappers, mylar envelopes for bits and pieces, etc. After I spend that YS credit, I think I’ll be satisfied with what I’ve got. Spending will be limited to purchasing Adirondack spring water, since my local tapwater is so foul.

Here’s my tab for 2022 so far:

O-Cha – 97
Yunnan Sourcing – 32
Adagio ~ 16
Tezumi – 52
Eco-Cha – 56
Todd & Holland ~ 14
Georgian Tea – 37
Verdant Tea – 50

Total: $304 $354

$304 is pretty good compared to previous years. Also no teaware purchases this year either – a first for me. There might be one more order before the end of the year if I start running out of Taiwanese oolongs but otherwise I’m good. These days, I tend to buy what I know I like and that helps keep costs down.

EDIT: made a Verdant tea order a couple of weeks ago to replace some broken teaware and picked up some tea as well. So despite my best efforts, I couldn’t avoid buying teaware after all. ;-)

Looking at my records, it turns out I managed to not spend much on tea at all this year (mostly because I received a bunch as gifts from people). Looks like $52 at Old Ways Tea and $27 at Moychay. I’m going to try to drink down my cabinet for the rest of the year and reward myself with a big order after that.
